Instead he should fight every beltholder at welterweight to unify and clean out that division. I don't wanna see a Pacman fight and I can't understand why so many people do. I wanna see him fight Cotto more than anything.

He needs to fight Pacquiao. Pacquiao is considered the greatest fighter of this generation right now and the only way to change that is to fight and beat him, that's the fight that means the most legacy-wise and the biggest fight that could happen in boxing today.

Beating Berto, Mosley and Collazo altogether wouldn't be half as big as beating Pacquiao. If he beats Berto then Berto is unproven and a joke, if he beats Mosley then Mosley is shot and if he beats Collazo or Cotto then others beat Collazo too and Cotto already got iced against Margarito.

The Pacquiao fight is the reason he returns. As far as legacy is concerned that's a fighter's concern early in their careers, this late in their careers they lean towards big money fights. Do you think Pacquiao would have moved two weight divisions up for DLH if the money wasn't insane?

I don't see how beating Pac would be bigger for his legacy than beating the welterweight champions. It makes no sense to me. Floyd wont get the credit he deserves no matter who he beats. You seriously think people won't say Pac is too small after Floyd beats him?

Mosley, sure, since they have history together and it goes way back. Why Cotto exactly?, if Cotto beats Clottey and looks good doing so then sure but you do realise that the majority see the Clottey fight as a 50/50 knowing how limited Cotto can be.

What Mosley needs to do while Mayweather pays attention to Marquez then Pacqquiao after him(hopefully) is get a rematch with Cotto. That way we will get a better idea who is the man to beat considering both these guys have recent defeats.

It's a lose lose situation for PBF. If he wins, people will say he simply beat the smaller guy and discredit the accomplishment. On the flip side, if he loses people will say he lost to the smaller guy and should retire.

I really want to see the fight - so I think if he were to beat PBF, then beat a WW like SSM or MC, then he will secure his position and legacy. It wont be by simply beating PAC though - he needs a true WW on top of it.

He'll definately get more credit for wearing the 4 WW straps around his waist than for beating Pacquiao above 140

Who gives a damn about beating the welterweight champions when the #1 P4P fighter is available and in his weight range in a fight that REALLY IS a dream match?

As far as beating champions he made a career doing that in 5 different weight divisions, this isn't something new you're asking from him. You do realise that when he retired he was already officially recognized as THE man at Welterweight, fighting and beating those guys will be something new?

I dont give a damn about recent defeats. Since when do you have to be undefeated to fight Floyd? They both have ww straps so he should fight both of them.

Bull****. Not in the long run, people will consider Pac the #1 fighter of this generation even if Mayweather cleans out the welterweight division. Besides, I don't think the fight will be above 140, MAYBE a catchweight but not Welterweight.

And your opinion doesn't represent general opinion. People wanted Mayweather to return to fight Pacquiao, not Mosley or Collazo. Eventually those fights will happen ANYWAY as he has signed to have 5 fights but the Pacquiao fight is the main target for obvious/logical reasons and demands.

Why cotto? Cotto was the man at welterweight before the margarito loss. now that Margo has been guilty of using illegal wraps the cotto win is questionable.

Yea i would love to see cotto vs mosley 2 but it's pretty funny how you made that comment. Let mosley and cotto fight at welterweights while mayweather takes care of lightweights and jr welterweights:D
