People have more chance of considering Mayweather the #1 fighter of a generation if he cleans out WW than if he beats Pacquiao. Just beating someone doesn't always mean you have a better legacy or even that you're a better fighter.. Check out Junior Jones beating Barrera twice. Vernon Forrest beating Mosley twice. Etc... fighters are judged on the entirety of their resume not just 1 fight

If Cotto beats Clottey convincingly, he should fight Floyd. If Cotto fights Mosley again and it's a war, then Floyd fights the winner he will get less credit. I mean Mosley keeps getting older and older... He needs to fight Cotto and Mosley. No one can say anything about him if he does. Pac's my favorite and I would love to see him fight Floyd, but those fights, Cotto and Mosley, just need to happen, it's been too long.

He never unified and cleaned out the division. He beat THE champ at the time but everybody knows Baldomir wasn't the best. This P4P **** is way overrated. If he cleaned out 147 then cleaned out the bums at 154 it would do 10 times more for his legacy than fighting Pac. Pac has more losses than Cotto since you like looking at losses so much.

it's all about the money ya'll...
dont you get it, floyd does not give a **** about boxing, the fans, nor his legacy....
he said it years ago "we're not fighting to prove to the fans who the best is" and he said it again the other day "manny is the p4p #1, but i'm the cash cow"...what more do you guys want...

all that's gonna happen is this......he's gonna outbox jmm, then do the same to manny, and retire again.....mosley will end up fighting cotto, cotto will beat him again....then the same cycle will keep happening over and over......

Would you/anyone expect Mayweather to honor those 5 fight's if he takes an "L" somewhere in between those?

Would a Mayweather/Pacquaio defeat before hand change Demand.
(I'd still watch it, I wonder the average would still be creamin' their shorts?)

Pac or Floyd should fight Mosley while Mosley is still living high off the Margarito win. that's something I'd like to see while Mosley is still #1 at 147. Then the other face the winner of Cotto vs Clottey. and then unify against each other

I know that but these situations don't match AT ALL, back then these guys weren't the main attractions nor were they #1 P4P. You're going to sit there and tell me if he ignores Pacquiao and fights/beats Cotto and Mosley people won't say he ducked Pacquiao for "easier" targets?

Mosley is 37 and Cotto is coming off an ass whopping at the hands of Margarito. Maybe that means nothing to you but in the long it means a lot.

As I said, I'm not saying he shouldn't fight those guys, he already has signed for five fights and the MAIN TARGET is OBVIOUSLY Pacquiao. Whoever says he is better off fighting Collazo, Mosley and Cotto are idiots.

Depends on the loss, if it's a close loss then I see him honor it and possibly demand a rematch. If it's one-sided and he's totally outclassed then what's the point?

Though either way I still see him continue fighting.

Everybody knew Baldomir wasn't the best?, who was then?, Margarito?

Baldomir was the best for beating the best, end of discussion. This isn't a popularity contest/UFC or WWE, this is a sport where everyone has a chance to win regardless of popularity. You not knowing Baldomir doesn't mean he's not good, just means your knowledge of active fighters was poor. He never cleaned out the division back then because there was no one worth looking at otherwise he wouldn't have moved up for DLH. Margarito was going to offer a megaevent?, the "Wait, I'm not ready yet" Cotto?

Don't compare Pac's losses nearly a decade ago to Cotto's recent brutal ass whopping at the hands of Margarito. Cotto got obliterated in that fight SO hard that even going in against Clottey people claim it's 50/50.

His plan is obvious, he already stated he wants BOTH Pacquiao and Mosley. Pacquiao responded by saying he will wait for the winner of Mayweather/Marquez. Which means that fight is to be expected depending on the result.

Mosley and other Welterweights will eventually come but the fight people want is Pacquiao before he gets to the rest.
