Pac is a freak of nature and carries his speed and power up the weight divisions. WHY DOES EVERYONE FORGET THIS.

Just because MP did it doesn't mean every tom, dick and harry can.
Especially with Marquez piling all that weight on in one go instead of doing it gradually over time like he should.

Mayweather does not believe that; since he thinks he's the draw, he figures anybody he fights will be big. Boxing has been in trouble for awhile, we need a dominant heavyweight - another Tyson (pre King Tyson).

Main reason why the Oscar-PBF was that big is because Oscar's zillions of fans as well as regular boxing fans wanted to see Oscar beat the undefeated Floyd. Especially that Oscar was the underdog.

I did not even expect Pac-Oscar to be as big as it was due mainly of the fight many people thought to be a joke. And even some of Oscar's most avid fans did not buy it.

I still thought PBF to be a bigger draw than Pac, but after the Hatton fight, more people want to see more of Pac. Right now, 50/50 is fair.

I think you seriously underestimate the exposure Manny has had since his fights with De La Hoya and Hatton. My god there are people in my work who are talking about Manny Pacquiao who know nothing about sport. It was all over the general news. Pacquiao has become part of popular culture. His is a story which is easy for Joe public to understand:
-Small Asian man from poor background. Who is humble and and has a down to earth personality is an ABSOLUTE animal in the ring. He destroys men who are bigger than him brutally with one punch.

It's a great story and one which the press adore writing about.

If he fights again before he fights Mayweather you'll see a huge increase in his numbers.

KO's like the one over Ricky Hatton attract MASSIVE (ala Mike Tyson) amounts of publicity. Mayweather is a dream to watch from a boxing purist's point of view but for the general public he is not exciting to watch – Most of these people don't know what head movement, footwork and counterpunching is.

If they are going to part with their hard-earned cash you want to watch an exciting fight.

I think on Pac's side it's a case of honour. Why should he take the smaller purse when he is the current P4P number one and is coming of some huge victories. Apparently alot of Pac's money goes towards his country anyway. It's rude what Mayweather has done and shows a lack of respect. Calling the JMM-MW match Numero Uno . He could use some of Manny Pacquiao's humbleness.

Mayweather has been out for 2 years, he can't just come back as if he hasn't been away, it's not maternity leave. He's got to earn back his P4P status by beating Pac or one of the other top Welters.

No. You're wrong. A recession does not effect everyone. The higher earners are much less effected and even if they are they usually have more savings and posessions to sell. Like it or not boxing attracts a different kind of person than UFC. It's like the difference between Football (soccer) and Rugby fans.

Your post only serves to prove my point. I doubt you even read the post you responded to in full.

If you're talking U.S ppv buys, these figures are all completely bogus.

Pac, in his last 2 fights has become the biggest thing in boxing, his popularity has risen bigtime. Imo mayweather should be happy with 50/50, infact he knows this, everybody knows it, it's just gonna be his excuse for avoiding

I'm sure that will go over well during negotiations. Pac can just stroll in there and say that despite him putting up inferior numbers to Mayweather, they should split the money evenly because Pac theorizes that he's now a much bigger draw than he was going into the Hatton fight. You know what, forget splitting the purse, Arum claims Pac should get 65% of the purse. That seemse fair considering Pac's theoretical earning power. You're right, everyone knows that established earning prowess should be ignored and replaced by theoretical earning prowess which is not backed up by anything.

Earning prowess should be ignored completely unless the difference in earning power is astronomical.

I'm sorry, it doesn't work that way in real life.
