If this is true then respect to Dawson. I've been one of his biggest critics on here the last few months but by taking a Johnson rematch and giving up his belt in doing so proves a lot. Nice one.
So much for people who said Dawson was ducking Johnson. I wonder what their excuse will be now. I guess they'll say he's ducking Cloud now.
Dawson did a good job by seeking the big fights, but he's not even the man at LHW in terms of legacy or ranking, he's up there, but that IBF belt was giving him authority as champion, and despite the big fight possibly being made, it's not the LHW title. If Dawson was Ring Magazine champ it'd be a different story.

The IBF already gave him an extension to take the Tarver rematch. Cloud waited long enough. It's really no big deal though. Even though he's not a draw, he's still a bigger name than the other titlists and would result in more TV revenue. If Dawson decides he wants a belt again, he can go get one. Erdei and Garay probably are off limits because Universum refuses to make fights where their fighter might lose, but Diaconu and Cloud/Woods would all be happy to make a fight with him to get onto a major network.
He was also about on the same level as Glen Johnson before that fight, which people tend to forget. Either way, the fight is Cloud's to lose and if he's smart, he'll use it as a coming out party to try and increase his name value.
Cloud isn't a southpaw and he isn't tall. Woods brings it usually, but he seemed intimidated by Tarver's length, and he's always stunk against southpaws. Woods is a legitimate 1-1-1 against Glen Johnson, who's a lot closer to Cloud's size and style than Tarver is. Even if Woods has faded, it should still be a competitive fight, and it should be an entertaining one.
