Were has this idea come from that Pavlik?

I think Joe should of fought Pavlik instead of Jones, but do you really honetly think Joe was actually ducking him?

Hopkins did that to Pavlik.... what would of Calzaghe did any different other than beat him worse or stopped him?

wow bhop sure put him on the shelf for a while. well actually come to think of it rubio was made to look like an amateur with pavlik so that was a good showing.

pavlik should fight AA no doubt, but i dont' think there is any ducking going on - and i hope youre not serious about JC ducking pavlik?!

Pavlik ducks no one but it's true Slappy ran away from him. It's a shame too the fight didn't go down as Slappy would've won.

 

The idea isn't that Pavlik or Abraham is ducking one another. The idea is that Bob Arum has a massive problem with putting Pavlik in a unification fight and has all of his dreams set on Pavlik feeding off the chaff that resides at MW.

For those needing more perspective on it, Pavlik and Abraham were supposed to meet up after Abraham beat Miranda. Arum himself said "Jan the latest."

Flash foward to now...we're STILL Waiting on it.

When for 6 months you are unable to speak in complete sentences without mentioning Pavlik, and then you hide behind a shot to **** Roy Jones, that is called ducking. It is one of the most thoroughly documented cases of ducking in boxing history.

Actually if we're technical, not really. Calzaghe made enough money fighting RJJ for it to be fiscally worth it.

Ducking to me is when you take a fight that doesn't enhance anything (be it legacy, resume, bank account etc) over a fight that upgrades you in any of those categories.

Calzaghe (by cutting out Bob Arum), wound up robbing HBO and company blind with his RJJ fight. Even though it was an epic bomb, Calzaghe made out like a bandit.

He certainly went out of his way to USE Pavlik to build himself up though.
