he might have a good looking record the combined record of the fighters he has fought is 248 wins 74 loses 13 draws but he is nowhere that good he is just out of shape and if he fights a faster in shape boxer with nowhere close to the record and the fighters solis has fought solis would get beat maby even stopped

if he gets fits there is no better heavyweight, but he keeps failing to show motivation or good condition so he remains just a prospect, I have hyped Solis on this forum before he ever fought a pro fight because I'ev followed him in Cuba and he was at the Olympics when he was in real shape and I saw what he is capable of.

Talent wise Solis is top 10 as a heavy. He just is way too big to make the most of that talent.

I'm not one to stereotype, but this is going to be an exception. You can't give Cuban heavyweights a free pass to eat what they want with no weight limit to adhere to, and expect them to come in to fight the best shape possible. With a weight limit to stick to, it's another story, and that's why the smaller Cubans show up in shape and don't have a problem making weight.

So, while it's physically possible for him to get in shape, I'd be stunned (in a good way) if it actually happens. That he's talented enough to win now without needing to be in primed shape is just going to reinforce the habit.

i was hoping he would prove himself, that his weight is not a factor, against Oquendo, what's up with that fight anyway.

FAT, careless, and got UD vs Julius Long, not looking good for the future. He remind me of Gerald ''the jedi'' Nobles, good fat heavyweight with boobs.

He just needs to come in in shape, about 220, he's trying to get the fight with Fres Oquendo back on so that shows that he wants to fight the best.

Oquendo is a risky fight based on the shape Solis is in. His record is very misleading. Lost to Tua by TKO ahead on the cards. Controversial loss to Byrd. Even fight vs. Ruiz up to the stoppage. Debated loss to Holyfield. Controversial loss to Toney. Beat a bunch of ranked heavies. Awkward, hard to hit and Solis, not busy enough, might lose this one.

Nah! He is far better than Nobles who cant hold a candle to Solis.

As for his fight with Long I was horrofied to watch Solis struggle against that limited journeyman from the states.
I didnt mind watching him go the full distance, but the way he fought Long shocked me a lot.At times he got the short end of the stick.Long could hold his own against Solis-especially in the later rounds of their encounter.Solis seemed to be out of puff after 3 rounds.

I very much hope that he wont fall short of our expectations.Still too early to trigger the gun!
He has some decent skalps in his fight record, but the way he performs in the ring hasnt set the world on fire.
He needs an authoritarian and grumpy coach like AA's trainer Wegner.
Wegner would carpet and flog him for eating like a horse in every McDonalds or BurgerKing he comes across.
What a fat fellow Solis has become since he fleed his native Cuba!

He left Cuba overweight. He moved up to super heavy right after Athens. He also had problems with the bottle. He debuted at 260 pounds, and it quickly became evident that about 245 is the lowest weight he can possibly make at this age, and he's just a shadow of his Olympic Champion self. :-(

Solis is looking to be the next Cuban prospect bust unless he changes his ways. Ramon Garbey is in a similar boat, no pun intended.

Not if the fight's in Germany :deal

Besides, Oquendo never gets things to go his way when the cards are close. Hell, I thought he blew Toney out of the water (9-3), yet he still managed to lose that one.
