Chagaev verus Valuev. Your pick and are you interested?

I got Chagaev more comfortably than in the first fight, but as always I think a judge will give Valuev the benefit of the doubt, so I'm still thinking a SD only for Ruslan. I wouldn't be surprised to see Valuev win though, as Chagaev's lay-offs may of taken there toll.

 

I'm not too interested.

Not trying to rain on either man, but I just don't see this as an exciting fight.

My pick is Chagaev by SD. Just a hunch of his layoffs combined with Valuev's mild improvements.

 

Seriously, after watching the Holyfield/Valuev fight - Valuev should retire. He's the biggest piece of crap to hold a belt.

 

It's boxing. Chances are I'll watch this to get me in the mood for Berto/Urango and Cintron/Angulo.

 

If that is true, they are seriously f*cked up, or I'm right about scoring difficulties in a Valuev fight and Holyfield won easily. Look back at our RBR thread, EVERYBODY had Holyfield ahead bigtime. My friends, some of them amateur judges and writers, had Holyfield winning clearly. Many writers from all over the world, (watching it obviously on TV) were absolutely shocked of the decision. I remember Fightnews originally talking about robbery, then this Russian writer changed the tone of the article saying the crowd always boos Valuev or something. Just like that. Seriously, it was one of the worst robberies I've ever witnessed, because based on a round by round, 10 point must system, it was rather easy to score. In almost no effective action, Evander won most of the rounds on my card, because he landed punches here and there, and Valuev had like 2 rounds when he was able to land a SINGE clean blow. Fights are scored by rounds, and no way Valuev had more than 2 in which he did more than Holyfield to win.

 

Yeah seriously I fail to see how anyone could give Valuev more than 3 rounds tops.

Then again this has been a repeated problem with Valuev fights. He wins maybe 3-4 rounds and the judges automatically times the number by two.

 

Back to Chagaev. He did look impressive early in his career, blowing away mediocre competition, but never as impressive as an amateur. His best for me was the one vs. Calloway, but watching Alexeev destroy him even easier (and watching Alexeev getting destroyed right after that), well, it's just a win over a gatekeeper. The Virchis fight was really hard to watch and Chagaev should've beaten the guy about 2 levels below his skills easily, yet he barely won. I think he put on a good performance vs. Ruiz, but stamina issues came up. He handled Valuev very well, so that might be his best performance on the biggest stage yet, but Valuev is just a freak of a nature, and it wasn't exactly Quintana-Williams. He should've blown away Skelton. No comments on Drumond, because he was out for a year. I like Chagaev and he's very underrated, but other than the Valuev performance, he failed to impress me since Calloway, because he's better than he performs.

 

I hope Chagaev wins and I expect him to take a close decision.

 

I got Chagaev. Injury prone or not, if grandfather Holyfeild can outpoint Valuev so can Chagaev again. This will be the same thing as the first fight, a 8-4 or 7-5 solid win but theres always some ****stain of a judge who will **** it up and it will be a SD or so.


Matter is the judges not really who wins. This fight is a toss up cause of the joke judges, but in favor of Chgaev for sure, no matter how unappealing he looked vs Drummond. After that Ruiz joke of a fight Germany doesn't even want Valuev anymore Hes now fighting in these other lesser known boxing countries like Switzerland and Finland....

Germany gave him enough gifts so now they are trying to milk him in these other countries

Personally I dont care much cause the WBA HW scene is just one big circle jerk.

 

The only care factor I could have for this fight is afterwards, if I hear that Valuev got KTFO.

I do think Valuev is probably a decent person, and I do think he does the best with what he has. But the corruption surrounding his camp ensures that his fights just stink.

Botht these guys have a legacy of sorts. What I am hoping is the Chagaev, who is only 30, rebounds and has a more impressive second half of his career. Who knows if it is possible with his injuries/illnesses. But tis not unheard of, either.
