This is the only thing I disagree with. I think Marquez was the best out of the 3, just never got the same recognition because of his fighting style and some early defeats. I think if these guys fought prime for prime, Marquez wins. But yeah, even with the "victory" over prime Marquez. I dont see Pacquiao's resume matching up with Hearns. If he beats a legit welter like Mayweather or Cotto. Then he has an argument.
JMM is most definitely in the same class as Barrera and Morales, and might actually be the better of the three!
I agree. If he beats Cotto or Floyd that would be great for him, especially Floyd. Cotto seems like it would be tough for Pacman because of Cotto's speed and sharpness, but Pacman's own sharp punching would probably bust up Cotto. Mayweather I am not sure. With Floyd it is hard to figure out how good he really is. I know he dominates guys like Baldomir and and an older Oscar, but how would he do with a really great fighter. I am not sure.
JMM might be the odd man out when you compare Barrera,Morales,Pacman and Marquez. I agree he is good, but out of the 4, he is probably considered the least great. The Chris Johns fight did not help him. I am interested in seeing how he does against Floyd, although even Pacman has said that Floyd will win the fight.
The Chris John loss is a bogus L on JMM's ledger. I've seen that fight twice and it's pretty evident it was a hometown gift for John.
Pac has the better resume of the four and deserves to be labeled the best but skillwise they are all in the same class!
not for me! EM and MAB rank ahead of Pacman in my mind in the lower weights. ATG ranking? Probably Pac. but do the 3 wins of recent times really excell him way above EM and MAB?
I was questioning you on the Barrera case. Not the Pacman-Hitman case. Prime Morales beating Pac had nothing to do with what we were talking about. As I said on my first post here, I have no problem with anybody ranking Hearns higher. I hold Hearns in such a high regard that I wouldn't really object. All I have a problem with was that "past prime Barrera" thing, as there's really nothing to indicate that he was past it. Nothing. I think Pac's win over Barrera was as legit as they come, and the Morales wins were very good wins but Morales was indeed past it. But still noone can deny that Morales was still one of the best 130lbers at that time alongside MAB and JMM. So Pac still deserves credit for fighting him.
