yes... why? bec there is no flyweight/bantam champ that had success past 126...it is extremely hard to do...very hard to do...pac brought not only to 130 but all the way to 142
Then I have to question your judging skills. If you actually saw the fight I'd like to hear what rounds you scored for CJ:think
The "flyweight/bantam champ" bit is blown out of proportion. If you want to be objective about it, then you also have to include the two KOs suffered by Pac below 122. In reality, PAC won a championship below 122 and defended it once but was also KO'd twice...................overall that's not to impressive. From 122-130, he has had a great run. From 135-147 he had three great performances but two of them were cherrypicked.
forget his first lost...he was not yet world rated that time...in his second lost, it was clearly not the pacquiao that we saw, he was weight drained. Everbody knows it, his next fight was not at 115 nor 118 but 122...
You can't pick and chose! lol It doesn't matter what the circumstances are, those were loses and are recorded on his resume the same way JMM has loses to Pac and Chris John, doesn't matter if people think he got robbed, those are two L's he can't erase.
i just started eveluating the career of a fighter from the moment he is rated...if you include all, then might as well include the losses of duran in the 1990s
early rounds for John.. many of them and def. the 4th and 6th if I remember, and Marquez came on late but lost those rounds he could have maybe won with the low blows. It was Marquez who lost that fight. He lost it. Scores say he lost it.
Who knows but Pernell did outpoint Azumah Nelson and I know Chavez would have had a tough time with him.
It is hard to do but I think Hit man Hearns career was tough also. You are comparing Manny with Tommy, and Tommy moved up just as significanly than Manny. Hearns is the one guy who can match Manny for moving up. He went from Welt all the way to lightheavyweight and then Cruiserweight. And those are divisions where they punch harder and where punch matters more but the lower divisions are more punch output.
what hearns had done has been done before by langford, walker and fitzsimmons... what pacquiao had done has never been done before... had there been a bantamweight champ that had been rated at 135 pounds? manny was not only rated as 135, he manages to get a title at 135 and be a lineal champ at 140 while being the p4p king
on a side note, we see hearns physical frame that is suited for moving up. He has the height and reach much like paul williams and oscar de la hoya. but pacquiao has the body and height of a natural featherweight but manages to be p4p king at higher weights
you cannot compare Langford and Fitzsimmons and Walker to Hearns. Hearns is a modern day boxer who came up and won the titles in each division against quality professionals. Langford never held a world title and Fitzsimmons fought before there was a good amateur program which developed fighters who were great professionals.
Hearns body is actually built small and lean. He stills weighs in today at about 205. Compare that with Duran who is 260. Tommy had small legs and if you go to youtube and see his fight with Virgil Hill check out his legs compared to Hill. Look at Hagler/Hearns and see how Hearns lower body is so much less than Haglers. His upper body is what matches Hagler well. Williams is a built differently than Hearns and actually Williams reach is 82. Hearns was only 78, yet Tommy did great things with his jab and right hand. Oscar did well up to welterweight, after that his power left him.
