That's his point I think. As much as I hate his public persona (and I have heard he's quite different in private), he does have a passion for Aboriginal rights.

You're right, it's the fact that 'black' is used, Aboriginals use the term "black fella", so black it is.

And he may be "half" black, but I'm sure that doesn't mean that some people are half racist.

    (and yeah, it's a **** nickname).

Did you read the paper today....sports back page....."Mundine 3 time world champ" :deal

I guess he has the media on the payroll as well :patsch

Fact only 10,000 people in Australia know the difference between the IBO and the WBA world titles.......Even the vacant WBA SMW regular titles he won.

If its so easy go win a few yourself.

I'm kinda glad someone brought this up..

Me and my mates were watching the fight last night and we all reckon he's been hittin the solarium, looked alot darker last night. Pretty sad really if he feels the need to emphasise it, we get it choc.. you're indigenous..

Well, because Machine has kindly told you why he is called 'black', you should no longer call it 'as you see it', because it should now be obvious what the reason is.
but the thing is, if you continue to deny him his right to call himself 'black', even after someone has told you the reason, then it does become racist.

I am not the one going around claiming to be the greatest ever, and a three time world champ, am i? So go feed that **** to someone else, this is a boxing forum, you are going to find people criticising boxers. Wow the Australian media said he is a legit three time world champ so he must be, because sports analysts in Australia are so credibly informed on the sport of boxing. Nice work detective dip****.

I see what you are saying though, because the Australian public (and even a lot of wouldbe serious fans) are ignorant to a lot of the sport, its okay for Mundine to milk them for all they are worth. Great message.

There is a pretty big gap between saying something is silly and actually denying someone their right to indulge in it.

One is an opinion, one is oppression. Taking away someone's ability to have an opinion is in itself oppression.

I doubt that Mundine has had his rights taken away by someone questioning why he calls himself black, and then questioning the validity of the explanation.

As such it is opinion and not oppression.

I mean, I describe myself as somewhere left of left wing. And even I can see that there is such a thing as the race card, and that it gets abused. I don't like it because it desensitises the public to the times when it should be validly used. Think of the boy who cried wolf - an apt story which shows several relevant aspects of human nature.
Mundine uses it way too often, and it does little to help indigenous Australians.

It's like a credit card. It's short term gain for long term pain. It seems like it helps your current argument but it causes long term damage to your cause.

I am also aware that in seemingly innocent comments there can lurk nasty undercurrents. However there is nothing to see here.

I would refer you to Godwin's law, it is appropriate here as well.

I think Mundine is just a wigger in the traditional sense.

He wants to be 'black' more than an Aboriginal, and uses his aboriginal anscetry as his excuse for it.

I've come to that conclusion after watching a few of his (lol) 'music' videos. In one of them he raps (as american as you like) about the raw deal blacks have, and he is rolling through the Australian hood in a lowrider dressed in ghetto gear with his homies. (As all the Aboriginal worship him) His vids are on Youtube, but you can find them yourself.

Either way, the man is a ****.
