    co-sign. i don't think chad has ever ducked anyone. why would he need to. the only reason he has supposedly "ducked" a fighter is because that fighter (diaconu/cloud) would get him no recognition. dawson is a hell of a fighter and he deserves the publicity and money at this point and he knows it. he's not gonna take meaningless fights that he knows he can win if they won't provide that. ****, he's been calling out bhop for how long now? there's a reason bernard won't fight him.

    new question to all the haters: is bernard "ducking" dawson? my answer is hell no, but by the same logic as the guy who started this thread is using he most definitely is!

    Yes, he is. But he's 44 and can fight whoever he wants. I had that discussion with Big Reg before and we both agreed Hopkins was ducking Dawson.

    Diaconu is the man whom Dawson and his team flew to Mexico to meet the WBC president over so that they would never have to face him. He's the guy they dropped the WBC belt over.

    "But, he's no one." If he is no one, Dawson could have fought him and been done with it. But he didn't. At one time in his career, Dawson was going to fight Diaconu. Diaconu had to pull out due to injury. And after that, Chad lost his heart to fight Diaconu. Sad.

    exactly, he could have fought him and been done with it. he could have given up 6 or more months of his career to fight a guy no one would have given him any recognition for. now you say that dawson WAS going to fight diaconu. so how the hell did he "duck" him? if you're the champ of a division and you are very confident in your abilities (as dawson is), why should you fight anyone who isn't willing to take big fights and work HIS way up to YOUR level. bull****.

    If Diaconu were not a threat, Dawson should have faced him and got it over with and not gone running to Mexico to dodge him. He would have a much better rep, and might be earning better paydays as well instead of having people think he's a coward.

    You're correct -- Dawson likes to keep the right low when he feels he's out of range. That's good, but it's a bad habit. One which someone with Dawson's chin shouldn't be getting into. Especially when fighting guys with powerful left hooks. Again, Dawson's chin no = Froch's chin.

    You like Dawson. Ok, maybe that doesn't make you a 'nuthugger,' but the point is you're defending him and a fan.

    Who is Cloud? The guy that Dawson has blown off for 9 months, and a guy with 18 KO's in 19 fights, including one against Gonzalez in his last fight, the IBF title eliminator. Fighting mandatories isn't always fun -- just ask Vitali K when he had to fight Gomez -- but it's what you do to keep the belt and build respect.

    If you're fighting 40 year olds in front of 1,000 full-price customers and looking badly doing so, you're stock isn't likely to go up.

    I love Glen Johnson, but I'm not sure this is the right fight for Dawson. What I am sure about, however, is that Gary Shaw didn't feel comfortable with this move and that's why he made up the phony story about HBO supposedly not being willing to take the fight.

    Now Shaw and Dawson look bad, and many will wonder what Chad is going to the old folks' home to pick an opponent. Again.

    Yes. He's trying to pick guys 40+ (with the exception of 36 year old Calzaghe).

    Jermain Taylor did the same thing with B-Hop nearly, what, 4 years ago? He and DiBella wanted a name that they thought was 'past it' but who could appear to be legitimate to fans.

    The judges made sure Taylor and HBO didn't look foolish for that choice. Pavlik handled the rest.

    No, the bull**** is Sad Chad making other guys wait for months on end and then just leaving the belt. Cloud's been waiting 9 months. Diaconu waited for Chad. And why? So Chad could fight a shot Tarver in front of 1,000 full-paying patrons in Vegas? Is that the 'big break' he was waiting for?

    Chad Dawson is nothing. Nobody cares about him. If he keeps fighting guys who are both old AND who end up making him look bad, his leverage isn't going to increase any, nor will his drawing power.

    who else is there???? who else at 175 will bring dawson a lot of recognition???? please give me one name.....

    he wants only the best out there. the guys who have proven themselves and the guys who, when he beats them, will bring him recognition to the average boxing/sports fan. how is that wrong????

    he's calling out bhop and calzaghe and yet he's DUCKING diaconu and cloud. jesus christ dude where's your logic?

    Hey dumbass did you not claim just a short time ago that Dawson was ducking Johnson and didnt have the balls to fight him??? So now that he is fighting him what is the problem??? Is this not the fight you were calling for??? You shouldnt have a problem with it:good

    bhop is the ONLY guy at 175 who would both increase his leverage AND his drawing power. so i guess in that sense, you're right. he should be fighting the up and comers, but i bet you after he takes out johnson a second time and has no other choice he will take on all comers. there's no one left to fight.
