Chad Dawson: Fraudulent (Non-) Champion

Diaconu pushed for his chance but never came??!?!?! The fight was signed! Done deal! Diaconu was the one who backed out! So his chance did come. He just didn't take it. Granted, he was hurt, but fighters have fought with worse injuries before..

What did you want Dawson to say?

"Okay Adrian, you got hurt. Who cares if I just wasted months of my time training for this fight only for you to pull out two weeks before fight night. I'll just wait for you to heal and then we'll sign the fight again!" :nono Be realistic. Dawson didn't want to wait on this guy so he vacated. Dawson is not afraid of this guy and would dismantle him with ease.

Yes he got injured but he was still the mandatory and he pushed for the fight and it never came.

There was a purse bid you know,won by Gankor Promotions of 1,813 million dollars.
Dawson being champ would have gotten 1,1 and Diaconu the rest,a little over 700k.

 

So were suppose to take your word that you if you can even back it up came from Diaconu's people of a higher purse then the one with Tarver, when its a report coming from a third party...I have never seen any numbers on the first Tarver Dawson fight nor did I ever see any numbers on the Diaconu fight.

I have my doubts about your numbers being that the champion gets 80% of the purse when fighting at the other guys home which according to your numbers would have meant that Dawson would have got roughly 1.425 million and Diaconu roughly 370k.

Just google the thing,the bid was in june 2008 and was won by Gankor Promotions with negitioations on the split as I told you.If I knew how to post a link I would.

Courtesy of Interbox, it was announced Friday that Gankor Promotions won the bid to promote WBC champion Chad Dawson's mandatory defense against Adrian Diaconu, which will now take place in Romania!

The results are in for the WBC purse bid held this afternoon in Mexico to determine the promoter of the WBC Light Heavyweight title bout between Interim champion Adrian Diaconu and reigning champion Chad Dawson.

Gankor Promotions won the rights to stage the bout with an offer of $1,813,000. Dawson promoter Gary Shaw bid $1,301,000. The WBC voted recently for a 60/40 purse split in favor of Team Dawson, which translates to a purse of $1,087,800 for Dawson while Diaconu will be making $725,200.
Details such as date and site are yet to be announced, but the bout will take place in Romania within the next 90 days or so. Adrian “The Shark” Diaconu (25-0-0, 15 KO) won the WBC Interim title on April 19th 2008 in Bucharest, Romania against # 3 rated Chris Henry. “Bad” Chad Dawson (26-0-0, 17 KO) has been WBC champion since February 3rd 2007 when he dethroned Tomasz Adamek

Is this guy serious? If so then he's freaking ******ed. First off who is Cloud? A guy that acts like he's mike tyson? Who has Cloud beaten? Oh i know fighters like Mike Woods, Jacob, Herrera, Strohi? Lol Cloud big win is against freaking Gonzalez lol. So this is the fighter that Dawson scared to fight with? Pau, shut up. I bet even at 40 years old Glen Johnson would have beaten Cloud. Hell i bet even Tarver right now would have beaten Cloud. Diaconu is the same fighter just like Cloud hasn't beat any fighters worth a damn to get a shot at Dawson. Like few people mention Diaconu had a chance to fight Dawson before but back out cause of a baby injury. Diaconu and Cloud are 2 fighters that are 1 dimensional unproven fighters that needs to fight better fighters before facing Dawson.

 

Like I said I will take the word of a third party over the word of anyone from either camp..And that word is Tarver was more money then Diaconu. I believe that, not some article that quotes the promoter of one of the fighters:good

 

Glen Johnson beat Dawson only to be robbed. HBO wants the rematch, hope it happens with neutral referee and judges.

 

I don't know but you aren't understanding.You can google this anywhere,there was a purse bid and Gankor Promotions won.I mean that's basically why Dawson vacated the belt.It's preposturous to say otherwise.This was a purse bid in june 2008.

Light heavyweight Chad Dawson had a choice to make:

- Go to Romania to make his fourth title defense against interim belt holder Adrian "The Shark" Diaconu, the mandatory challenger, for a career-best purse of $1,088,274.

- Give up his title and take his chances that promoter Gary Shaw and Showtime can put the finishing touches on a deal that would see Dawson challenge Antonio Tarver for his belt in October in the United States for a similar payday.

Dawson chose the second option, vacating his WBC 175-pound title on Friday rather than make the mandated defense against Diaconu.

The move signaled that the Tarver (27-4, 19 KOs) and Dawson (26-0, 17 KOs) camps are close to a deal to make a high-profile fight that has been brewing for more than a year.

"We are still in [the] negotiation stage," Shaw told ESPN.com. He added that he hoped the deal would be finalized next week.

If the deal is completed, Tarver, 39, would defend his IBF version of the title against Dawson on Oct. 11, although Shaw said he had not locked in a site. Tarver, the former recognized division champion, picked up a belt when he outpointed Clinton Woods on April 12 on a card he shared with Dawson's last defense against Glen Johnson.

With Dawson's decision, Diaconu was elevated to full WBC titleholder, Jose Sulaiman, the organization's president, announced.

Ganker Promotions, which handles Diaconu, won a June 13 purse bid for the right to promote Dawson-Diaconu, a fight it would have staged in Romania this fall.

Dawson, 25, of New Haven, Conn., and his team elected not to go through with it, instead focusing on finalizing the deal to fight Tarver.

"Chad Dawson contacted the WBC to inform [us] that he will not fight against Adrian Diaconu … and therefore, he is relinquishing the title, even when both fighters had gone to a purse offer that was won by the Romanian promoter Gangker Promotions," Sulaiman said in a statement. "The WBC feels very disillusioned with Dawson's decision, as he was going to make the highest purse of his life against Diaconu, as well as the WBC always supporting Dawson."

Dawson was supposed to defend against Diaconu in Sacramento, Calif., last September on Showtime, but Diaconu withdrew shortly before the fight because of a hand injury. Dawson wound up knocking out late substitute Epifanio Mendoza in the fourth round.

The WBC approved an optional defense for Dawson against Glen Johnson on April 12 and allowed Diaconu to fight for an interim title a week later, which he won via decision against American Chris Henry. The interim bouts were allowed because Dawson and Diaconu both agreed to face each other next.

"It happens that he found the way not to fight Diaconu again," Sulaiman said.

One of the key reasons is because Showtime was not interested in buying a rescheduled Dawson-Diaconu fight at the expense of getting the match it has wanted all along: Tarver-Dawson.

If Tarver-Dawson is finalized for Oct. 11, Showtime is also making plans to include same-day taped coverage of Samuel Peter's heavyweight title defense against unretiring Vitali Klitschko on the broadcast. That fight also likely will take place Oct. 11 in Europe.

Dawson needs to get off the Seniors tour and impress when he has the chance! safety first boring sparring exhibitions arent going to cut it. Guy seems to not have a punch and a possible shaky chin. Not good for him or boxing.

 

Dawson is now taking a rematch that many boxing fans want to see yet there are still who whine and moan about it..
