Abraham + Kessler ...how do they get away with it???

Getting harder and harder to argue against this.
For the standard that people hold Calzaghe to and then criticize him.... how would AA and Kessler be immune to that?

I want to see the two become successful. I hope they start fighting live opponents. But this is beginning to feel like the 3-4 years prior to Calzaghe fighting Lacy. When Calzaghe would announce at the beginning of those years, "This year... I show my worth".

 

As a Abraham AND Pavlik fan, I do agree with you on one 1 thing Boo, if Abraham REALLY wants this fight to be made, which I have NO DOUBT, hopefully he drops the belt, fights Karmazin, which I don't think should be a problem for Arthur, then become the mandatory. I have NO DOUBT, EITHER fighter would fight each other, none are cowards or duckers, I can't say the same for their promoters though, ESPECIALLY TOP RANK. I know not everyone will agree, but I honestly think it is Arum is postponing or looking the other way. Arthur has a strong Armenian contingent in Los Angeles, if you were to go to a Vanes fight(who happens to be armenian), a lot of "casual" boxing fans are in attendace, especially the Armenian community when held in Las Vegas. With Kelly's supporters from Youngstown, I don't believe ONE second the arena is not going to be full if a fight is made.

 

And by doing that, it creates more clutter.... Now we'll have a vacant IBF Title... Which would mean the winner of Giovanni Lorenzo and Roman Karmazin will be your new IBF champion.... Instead of unification.... It's bad enough that Felix Sturm doesn't want to fight Abraham... It would mean something if Abraham dropped his belt, fight an eliminator and then go for Pavlik... But it means MORE if they get together and fight now... Put all the belts on the line.... Plus if AA went through your process, Pavlik will more than likely have a fight while that goes on which creates a risk for injury (dumb cuts, broken jaws, etc)..... If that happens, expect more meaningless fights against meaningless fighters... Best thing that can happen is if they make this fight..... The end.... Pavlik has no other options at 160..... Duddy has to rebuild himself...... He doesn't wanna fight Abraham..... Sturm is fighting Gevor......The best available fighter is Sebastian Sylvester... But he's more unknown than Arthur Abraham... So in that case, he's better off fighting AA....... Even though he beat Jermain Taylor twice, Kelly Pavlik doesn't attract the same amount of attention that Jermain did when he was champ...

Kessler... pre-calzaghe fought good fighters..... He stopped Manny Siaca to take his belt.... Went all the way to Australia to beat Anthony Mundine........ Beats Beyer in 3 to take his belt......... Easily beat Andrade.. Once Kessler fulfills his obligations with Palle, then we may see him in there with better fighters...

 

OK. Either one of you tell me what has gone down in negotiations between Arum and Saureland? You hear Saureland make lots of noise, but notice he hasn't thrown out any of those numbers in public like he did with Sturm? Think there is a reason for that?:think

 

Pavlik has NOT turned his back on the fight publicly. You are going to have to put up on that one. Abraham/Saurland has made a public spectacle but what has happened at the table? Can you give us that insight? We know they have been talking and Saurland made a trip to the states for just that purpose.

 

Vacating and becoming the mandatory is a perfectly legit way to force the fight. However, AA would probably get a much bigger pay day for a unification fight, and hey, if you're gonna get knocked the **** out, ya might as well be well paid:yep

 

We don't give a damn about those numbers and if those numbers were an issue Arum would bring them up as an excuse rather than claiming Abraham should gain more popularity in the US. Abraham's team are starting good, they're at least showing that they want the fight and are interested in making it happen. The response they're getting isn't "Show us numbers", it's "fight more in the US please".

 

Why would I give you an insight?, what more do you need to know other than Saurland is the one trying to make it happen?

If they had issues with money then Arum would be the first to mention it but that's not what they said. What Arum said is that Abraham needs to be more popular in the states before that fight happens, they never mentioned any issues with money.

 

One is the other.

 

Whatever it is people are getting sick of the list of excuses from both parties about this fight. Just hope they come into terms and we do eventually see this as we all know that both styles can bring a great fight/event that this division needs.

 

Well, the Saurland trip may have paid dividends. We will see. They are still in talks as far as I know.

 

I've considered the possibility that Sauerland and Arum are playing the fans and the media like a fiddle. Hardly a day goes by without discusion on here and in other forums. The boxing websites mention it multiple times every week. AA gains a lot of ground through that process, and therefore, the fight gets bigger and so does the pay day.

Yeah that could be a plan too and it's only reasonable to do so since the division doesn't really have bigger names to carry it after this one is over with UNLESS a rematch is worth it and that's not guaranteed.

As long as they have their eyes on each other I'm happy, just hoping it doesn't get cold and people lose interest. I know for sure Pavlik isn't scared and NOT hinting at that, just know Arum is playing the "wait" game to make it look best when it's signed. A guy who moves up to fight Hopkins in hopes to impress and secure a fight with Calzaghe can't be scared of this fight so don't assume I'm hinting at that because that's silly.
