I dont want to sound like Captain Obvious, but here goes.

    Did you know that:
    1) Arum is choosing Pacquiao's fights based on what will make the best money. Not Pacquiao
    2) Roach is the one speaking in that article. Not Pacquiao.
    3) Pacquiao has the reputation of being fearless. To spell out what it means, he would fight "anyone" at anytime - depends who Arum has lined up for him.

I disagree...I think that JMM counters in combo more, but not neccasarily better...while Floyd's main thing is to not waste punches on gloves and shoulders...once he senses the right oppurunity, he lets his hands go. With Manny so wide open looking for his own shots, there will be plenty of chances to let them go early and often.

Problem with that approach is that you can lose rounds due to poor workrate. Check out the early stages of the Judah/Mayweather match, or some of the rounds in Hoya/Mayweather. Combinations, even if they're landing on gloves and shoulders, often at least create the illusion of scoring and catch the eyes of the judges, as seen in matches like Leonard/Hagler. In a close round, even one good combination can make a difference. Mayweather only 'lets his hands go' when the other guy is gassed or hurt/buzzed, and Pac has excellent stamina and a high toughness level.

Pac has all of that, but I think Floyd's timed punches throughout the fight will wear him down...Pac has been, and can be hurt...that's why I expect Floyd to stop him late. People talk about ad******g, and that will be the key to this fight. Not to call Manny Gatti by no means, but his aggressiveness could cause Floyd to fight him just that way. Just because Floyd does not fight that way all of the time does not mean that he can't or won't.

That's true, many people forget just how aggressive Mayweather was at the lower weight classes. In fact, early in his career, I remember the commentators even talking about him as a 'power puncher', back when he would readily mix it up. I think it would be a mistake to fight Pac that way, though -- Pac loves brawling, it would be like Leonard/Duran 1. Mayweather should do what he does best; move constantly and fire off good, sharp punches. He should also avoid the ropes like a plague...even though he's good at countering there, I don't think the strategy would work against someone as quick and aggressive as Pac.

I wouldn't be surprised if this fight followed the pattern of Ali/Frazier 1, actually. The old King comes back from exile (in this case, self-imposed) to face the new one, and we get a classic, close bout between the slick boxer and the constantly aggressive slugger. I also think we may see the first solid KD of Mayweather's career, whether he wins or loses.

I don't see a Duran vs Leonard for the simple fact that I don't believe like you said Floyd will not fight that way...me saying that Floyd will KO Pac late is not to slight Pac Man, I just think that Floyd has all of the tools to make Manny look bad. I think there will be moments in the fight where it seems like Manny is getting off but those will be from the crowd anticipating those moments and overreacting to some instances in the fight. On the subject of Ali and Frazier 1, I think that these are two very distinct circumstances...Ali was out way longer...Floyd has been out for awhile, but under different circumstances. Plus he should have at least one warm up fight should they meet.

lol makes me laugh. no quarells in going to 147 for oscar but wont do it for floyd and claim hes LAZY. maybe manny has got lazy with all his recent success and thinks fighters should jump how high he requires? im sure floyd did bigger ppvs on both his fight and imo is a bigger draw as he still has the elusive "0". if floyd vs marquez does higher ppv than manny vs marquez i think floyd should have just as much if not more pulling power on the weight than manny. typical roach trying to do his "magical matchmaking" as he knows floyd is a stratigic nightmare and manny has even less of a chance of beating him at 147 than he does at lighter weights.

what makes me laugh -- say floyd beats marquez (hes bullied a smaller fighter) propz to marquez though, no crying or trying to weight dodge like manny, hes shut his mouth and gone to 147 to fight, which manny due to his management, will not do. say then floyd gets matched with manny at whatever weight and pulls off a win (floyd will get accused yet again of bullying a smaller fighter) you will never be happy and no matter who or how he wins you will have an excuse or someone else will be a rising star he has to beat. if he fought to please u lot he would be fighting untill he was a oap
