I'm sure if they asked Evander, Skelton or Sprott they would have jumped at the chance.

Even Fraudly Harrison. Would have been the worse fight in history but hey, let's fight!!!!

Exactly, that's what bewilders me the most. If Chagaev is the risk then, so long as no-one is fighting him, why can't the others go ahead?

My guess is that Valuev was THE draw and with No Valuev fight then there's no point?

My question is...you knew the guy was a big injury risk why not just have a back up in case?

Well they did offer Meehan in Chagaevs back up, but some how it didnt work out.

    Talk about ruining weekend.

Well maybe I just have to go some Helsinki bars tomorow, but it isnt exactly same that going to see WBA heavyweight title match.

Those ****ers should pay my hotel and travel expenses

amen to this post. i would buy valuev-brewster on ppv i dont know why they didnt elevate brewster or meehan although id prefer lamon. Brewster and kali meehan mightve asked for a large increase in what they were scheduled to make for taking on valuev rather than the nobodies they were fighting which with the little time left may have made negotiations impossible. possibly???

Official Statement: Universum Box-Promotion: “We cannot understand all this. Ruslan Chagaev is ready to box. His bloodwork has been stable for several years, including before this fight. The German Boxing Federation (BDB), the WBA and Dr. Walter Wagner, the doctor representing the Austrian Boxing Federation which regulates cards of Sauerland Events, have all classified him as safe. They are trying to dodge Ruslan Chagaev here by hook or by crook. We will examine this situation very closely and take any steps necessary.”
