Not sure about that mate. Jones Jr was Ko'd twice at 175 and was hardly touched by Ruiz in his one fight above that.
Hopkins has never shown any lack of punch resistance (Mercado was IMO a one off, at altitude and hardly proper KD's), and nor has Winky Wright.

De la Hoya isn't a bad shout. Ity seems absurd that he was once thought of as chinny, but those early knockdowns were mainly off balance or flash KD's.

I know this is supposed to be about fighters moving up divisions but in the mid 70's George Foreman started to look a little vunerable. When he came back much heavier he took massive shots off Holyfield, Moorer, Alex Stewart, Briggs and many more.

After being KO'd in 2 by Alphonso Zamora, Eusebio pedroza became a dominant champ at feather.

Most of Khan's KD have been when he is hit on the temple, meaning head, brain. Around 75% of the Brain is water, if a fighter is weight drained one of the effects to the body is 'Dehydration' of the body, that means also effecting brain water levels. This can also effect your thinking. Khan being hit on his temple could be giving him blackouts.

James Toney - knocked down by Reggie Johnson at MW, Jones Jnr at SMW, but never at Cruiserweight or HW (some smart-arse will say Peter knocked him down, he didn't it was a slip).

Yeah, but that is the very definition of a one-off.

A guy who can cover his head and body at one and the same time with his abnormally long arms, allied as well to what seems like a damn fine prime chin (note the free shot he gave Mosley), does not get knocked down five times without it being a freak occurence.

Winky Wright shouldn't come into this discussion, and Hopkins neither.

I don't think Pac counts. He was more or less a kid at the lower weights and hadn't fully developed.

improvement is usually due to haveing been weight drained. I think Haye will take punches better at heavy, though he'll never have what would be considered a good chin for someone of his ability.
