WBA welterweight champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley announced today that he is ready to face Manny Pacquiao in the ring and is willing to meet at a catch-weight to make the fight happen. In a statement, Mosley said: “There are conflicting reports from the Pacquiao camp an upcoming fight between me and Manny Pacquiao. I want it to be known that I want to fight Pacquiao and I want to fight him now. I’m willing to meet at a catch weight to make that happen. I know this is what Freddie Roach wants as well, as he has previously stated this to press. I am the best fighter in boxing and I am ready to reclaim the title of number one pound-for-pound fighter.” Mosley last faced Antonio Margartio in January 2009 and delivered a ninth-round knockout. Pacquiao is coming off a second-round knock-out victory over Ricky Hatton in May.

Let me get this straight... before all of you groupies start creaming over Shane... He calls himself the best fighter in the world, but won't fight a man in his OWN weight class??????

    It's bull****.

Not going to happen, Roach already made it clear to both those guys(Cotto included) it's either 140 or good bye.

Only one is worth mentioning in "his" weight class and that's the winner of Cotto/Clottey IF it's Cotto since he has a loss there. At this stage and age he's looking for big money fights, "historical and legacy" fights he's done with long ago. Fighters make a name fighting legacy enhancing fights then that slowly changes to big money fights in the long run, they don't build a reputation for the hell of it they do so to become more popular and make more money.

He already fought Cotto and Margo. The two top people in that weight class at that point.

You're doing a terrible job of checking then. Roach made it clear even before the DLH fight that after DLH if all goes well in that fight they're moving down to 140 and staying there. They confirmed that once again to both Cotto and Mosley who were ignoring it with their recent challenge attempts.

pac should just wait for the floyd-jmm winner. he doesn't need to fight shane mosley or miguel cotto. but if pac insist, a catchweight of 143/144 is fair for both parties. pac taking the fight at 147 will make him legendary win or lose.

Oh.. I see... Everyone runs to Shane's defense when he only looks at fights for money.

Let me say this again. According to this post, he said he is the best fighter in the world. He didn't say he wanted a payday. If he is the best fighter in the world looking to "reclaim the #1" then he should fight the only guy in his division he wouldn't be favored against, who happens to be the same guy who has repeatedly called him out.

I thought Pac should fight Floyd regardless of who wins, and then Jmm after. I'm sick and tired of Floyd's big ass mouth

"I am the best fighter in boxing and I am ready to reclaim the title of number one pound-for-pound fighter."

He wants to re-claim his crown, not just announce himself as p4p.

You and I both know that Mosley would kill himself if he tried to make 140. This is a guy who fought his last fight at a ripped 160 pounds.
