    ?
growing up i was always a boxing fan but would only watch the big fights i.e. a naz fight, lewis eubank etc.
Then i watched the fight that would turn me from a casual boxing fan into a big follower in the sport. I watched a masterclass performance from Roy Jones jr against a very tough Clinton Woods on a sunday afternoon on the BBC.
Just wondered if it was the same for any of you?

i thought you said, once a cheater always a cheater......

mike tyson cheated against holyfield in the worst way....not only that, but he admitted the other night that he was in a "head clash" battle with holyfield also.....that's cheating :deal

Benn-Eubank II really captured my imagination and made me aware there was a sport called boxing.

Do me a favor read the thread title moron-this has nothing to do with cheating or liking or favoring a boxer. Secondly, you never seen Bernard Hopkins, among cornucopia of fighters, including Holyfield head butt someone-GTFO. Mike Tyson, isn't a cheater if anything else the guy has never been mentally stable. But even for the sake argument, let say he did cheat agianst holyfield. The first time I was exposed, and watched, and started to watch boxing was when I saw Tyson fought Rudduck. That's about 5 years removed from the time he fought Holyfield and "supposedly" cheated.

Didn't actually see it until 2007 but watching Pac-Marquez 1 turned me into a hardcore fan.

My earliest memory of an actual boxing match was when Douglas beat Tyson, because it was on the news that we had a HW champ in our state now, and that it was Buster Douglas day in Columbus, Ohio.

But, I think, what made me a fan when I was a kid was Foreman's comeback. Then I sort of lost interest, became a UFC and wrestling fan for a while, then Tyson was getting a huge build up for a fight with Lennox Lewis...then my interest came back to me.

For the most part, though, it was never quite the "new" guys who caught my interest, as much as the first HW champion of the world, the stories of John L. Sullivan.
