Arguello vs Nelson @ 130

Utter bunkum!!! Listen Flea i'm British and whether you disagree with this guy or not it is clear as day that he has a mighty boxing brain. A very good historian and well schooled in the technical and tactical aspects of fighters. You have some game to... but you are way off on this in my opinion. what is goin on with you and others on here in my opiniion is lazy analysis. Arguello was bigger, apparently stronger (how debatable is that!!!) so he wins.

Azumah was clearly the more all round tecnician. I ve seen him on his toes and box ( the idiot who said he had no head movement is .... well an idiot), i ve seen him behind a peekaboo against the likes of McDonell and a destroyer. So he was adaptable and thats why he beats Arguello, he would box him long and in the end break him down on the inside!
As for Ajose.... Dont know what Olu has been saying... but i tell you what he is the next one up at that weight. He would have creamed Hatton anytime over the last two years... if hatton was interested in quality prep for manny he would have sparred with the southpaw African. I wonder why he didint!!!

The official verdict was a draw. I said my scorecard was in line with one of the judges that gave it to to Azumah 116-112. I thought Azumah deserved the verdict full stop. That is my opinion then and now and I stand by it.

 

you guys clearly misunderstand me. also azumah, no one has said alexis will win because he is stronger.also my pea-buchanan analogy was clearly not meant to be taken seriously

This is nonsense. You're hiding your bias for Azumah behind comments like the highlighted one above, where you act as if viewing a similar quality/quantity of footage of both fighters makes you incapable of seperating between the two as favorites. I think that's obviously not the case.

 

styles make fights, any knowledge of the style of both fighters points to the clear victor. imo,although olu is entitled to his.

 

Azumah is good enough to be live against anyone at 130 IMO, Arguello included. I'd likely favor Arguello as well Flea, but I wouldn't say it's quite that clear-cut, as Olu's arguments in favor of Azumah's versatility do hold some merit. He wasn't a fighter who relied on one set style or skill-set, he was a versatile, adaptable, awkward fighter to pin down, and very crafty. When you add in his physical tools he made for a hell of an all arounder. I think this would be a great fight, with numerous switches in momentum throughout.

 

as you know pea, i'm asmuch an admirer of nelson as anyone. it's a 60-40 for the reasons highlighted. what do you think of fenech-arguello, also mooted in this thread

 

Fenech gets poleaxed within 5 or 6. I pretty much agree whole-heartedly with your points on that one.

For the last time I like both guys but in my honest and objective opinion both guys at their best Nelson would stop Arguello that is my view and I stand by it.
