Very heavily. But these is still no excuse for his antics at 147. I ain't sayin he's a cowrd or nothing, but he probably could have done a little better job of fighting some better competition.
pac had 24 even rds with JMM...him cleaning 130 is a bit different than PBF cleaning out 147....they will settle who is better in the ring...really simple
147 didn't offer much back in 2006, even when Margarito talks started people took them as they were Vivian Harris 147version, it slowly started to increase after Bob Arum started promoting Margarito more and more through Mayweather then carefully matching him with the likes of Manuel Gomez to keep people awake. If there were bigger fights at 147 then Mayweather wouldn't have moved up for DLH.
He beat the ex Champ, the current champ, the skip a fight beat the ex WBA champ at 147. He didn't fight Cotto or Mosley but Arum never seem interested in making a fight with Mayweather unless it involved a multi fight contract. And Mosley we all know about the toothache. but then again look at the timing off it. When Floyd beat Baldomir. Mosley was fighting at 154 against Vargas earlier and took the rest of the year off. Cotto had yet yet to even fight at 147 when Floyd fought Baldomir.
he fought ODH at 154, the linear champ baldo and the former undisputed champ in Zab...all these other guy...cotto (did not want to fight PBF) mosely and margo beat each other and there was never a clear cut guy to fight...so he whooped up on the best 140 lb guy with ease....when one of these guys arise as the for sure #1 contender then I expect PBF to fight them after he beats JMM and Pac...then the haters can just say he should fight dawson or pavlik
It's funny how all of that is forgotten/ignored yet when you bring up why Margarito publicly turned down a LEGIMITATE(not some fake bull**** from Arum) career high payday to avenge a loss they all agreed on Margarito "WAIT!!!" excuse.
Pac never claimed to campaign at 135. He won a title there and moved up. One fight only. He did, however, clear out 122, 126 and 130, outside of one or two no-money fighters. Mayweather cleared out 130 and 135, but that was years and years ago now and not really fresh in people's memories.
I give him props for the Zab fight. And for Baldi That De La Hoya fight was a moneymaker he earned. And I guess that Hatton fight was not such a bad one... Points taken:good I still think he should fight Cotto (should be relatively easy) and Williams, which would be a lopsided victory either way (a boxing lessons mismatch by Floyd, or a corner-to-corner beatdown like a ragdoll by Williams) **** Shane. **** Margo.
Oh Yeah... This is really what ticks me off about the Floyd haters. Most of them are leftover Margarito fans who stood behind the disgraceful ducking of PW that Margarito (and Shane) did, yet they still have the nerve to call Floyd a coward.
Let's see. Cotto - Deemed too Green by Arum Hatton - Hattons own father claims they weren't ready for Floyd yet. These two were considered the best after Mayweather (Zoo lost to Hatton but also he fought for Showtime making the fight impossible) Floyd went after Gatti best available champion. Can't blame Floyd for the next two best fighters not being ready.
I wouldn't recommend the Williams fight as I think he would lose that one and badly, Williams made Margarito look small, end of story. I'd rather see him fight Pacquiao, Mosley and Cotto. Think it will go this way, after Marquez(if he wins) I would like to see Cotto and Mosley mix it up in a rematch with the winner of Pac/Mayweather fighting the winner of Mosley/Cotto II. All depends if Cotto beats Clottey of course, if not then it's Clottey/Mosley maybe.
Floyd doesn't care about 147 welterweight specifically. Floyd isn't fighting solely for the welterweight title. His mission goes beyond that. He is fighting strictly for the pound for pound title and $-title, which means beating champions higher than his natural weight aswell as beating champions lower than his natural weight that make sense money-wise. Everyone in boxing is playing this trend
