What fighters of the modern era have used the sometimes forgotten facets of the sweet science from a century or more ago? What fighters exhibit certain skill sets that could be said to belong to another era of boxing?

Bernard Hopkin's is an easy choice here. He was a LHW much of his career and like Moore kept his weight under control and is still fighting well into his 40's.

    David Haye

A fighter who holds his hands low to draw his oponents punches in so that he can counter them.

Verry like Tommy Gibbons in some ways.

Also, where did these modern fighters learn their older skills?

We all know Fitz followed Gans around, Blackburn taught what he knew to Louis... What about these more modern fighters?

"Lost" skills. Feinting, parrying and other obscure skills that lost favor during the later half of the century.

Although its a tad premature, I think Andre Berto is showing some great footwork and skills that are similar to those of Robinson and Leonard.. Of course, he is no where near that level and may never be, but when watching his fights, I see and hear the echos.

Mhm, the fighters listed don't need to be world class or ATG's. Even shades of it are interesting.

    MW you mean

i dont think no skills have been lost just the same activity level in boxing like having a fight on every week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and saturday and the amount of Pros

but i can see some of the top amatuers are losing some pro skills like body work and inside fighting and if nothing is done they are going to grow further apart as sports
