    Does it really show this?

Or does it show that Jeffries twice defeated one of the 10 best swarmers ever, once with limited use of one of his arm.

Jeffries - Frazier is a very good match. The closest each fighter fought to the other (Foreman and Sharkey) gave each of them their toughest match. I think that any series would be split, and you have to say that Jeffries did far better against Sharkey than Frazier did against Foreman, if you are being fair, but balance this by Foreman being slightly better at his style than Sharkey was.

If forced to pick, i think that Jeffries has an advantage. I think that this fight would be similar to Frazier Foreman II, but this time, i could see Joe lasting the distance.

Why would he fight at a higher tempo to what Jeffries was used to? Jeffries fought smaller heavies who were much faster and through more leather than Frazier. I think though, that is fair to say, that Frazier hit a lot harder and was much stronger than most of Jeffries opponents.

Peter Jackson was one black opponent. He definitely was not the only one. Like Jack Johnson, (although probably not to the same degree in terms of number of fights) Jeffries had pretty much cleaned out most of the main challengers that were black, before he won the title. If he hadnt beaten them, then someone he beat had.

Which heavies did Jeffries fight who threw more leather than Frazier,do you think?
I would imagine Frazier's work rate would be something new to Jeffries.
You called Sharkey a top 10 swarmer ,how do you account for the fact that a super middle[ Fitz ]wrecked him twice, yet he finished both fights with Jeffries, the second one with 3 broken ribs, which offsets Jeffries [damaged arm]imo.Jeffries looked destructive koing much smaller men the only 200 pounder he beat of any note was Ruhlin who retired on his feet,so we dont know if he could ko Frazier,I think it unlikely Frazier could ko him ,but a tko is possible imo.

Jeffries isn't anything like as dangerous as Foreman, his power just isn't in the same dimension

I'd go with Frazier mid-late stoppage pretty much dominanting Jeffries. Better boxer, bigger puncher, more relentless and quicker. Jeffries doesn't really have any advantages I wouldn't be suprised if Frazier was stronger too, Johnson was stronger (and strength doesn't disapear even if you are inactive)

Frazier is beloved. Fans will remember him for his battles with Muhammad Ali, but after watching all the films, he is suspect in many areas by the standards of all time great heavies. My reasons are thus:

1 ) Frazier could only fight one way. Moving forward. He was not going to win by boxing at the highest levels, or out smarting the other guy, moreover he won via attrtion, and out working the other guy. That and a heck of a left hook!

2 ) Frazier was a 1-handed puncher. His right was merely a set up punch for the hook, which was his only money punch. There was not much of a jab, cross, or uppercut.

3 ) Frazier was relatively small, and weak in the clinches vs people who were bigger than he was.

4 ) Frazier chin was suspect vs punchers. And he tended to swell quickly. This problem is compounded by his stand and trade preferences in the ring.

5 ) Frazier’s record vs hall of fame fighters is 1-4, with 3 KO losses, and in many fights, he was a slow starter.

I would give Frazier a good chance to beat the best all time boxers who lacked major power…especially if they were close to his size or smaller. This was Frazier’s specialty.

I would also give Frazier a good punchers chance vs all time greats who had merely solid to average type of chins.

However, when Frazier is matched vs bigger guys with better chins looks likes a loser more often than not. Jeffries would likely win a stand and trade war via TKO, or man handed and maul a much smaller Frazier.

Well we are taking Jeffries chin on trust against BIG Men who are punchers, but I am inclined to do so.Choynsky and Fitz were major league hitters, and he absorbed their punches without wilting .
The problem Jeffries might face, is that in more enlightened times he would not be allowed to continue with too much facial damage, plus he generally needed time to wear down his adversaries, or at least the better ones.
Fifteen rounds drastically reduces that time, could he adjust? Most probably.
Power, probably the edge goes to Frazier here, with Jeffries being a bit more two handed.
    So.
    Chin Jeffries
Power Frazier, but maybe not by much.
Speed? Well on film it looks like Frazier.
    Strength Jeffries
Skill ? Maybe nothing in it here
Both had terrific desire to win and great heart.
I think they would split a series of three bouts ,and I cant make up my mind who would be in front at the end of them

I don't think Frazier hit harder. He often took many flush shots to wear has man out. Jeffries produced more sudden ten counts.

Back in the early 1900's, fighters cut easy because the gloves were horrible. The gloves back then were lighter, and from horsehair. They often split, and were scuffed up which made cuts more prevent.

There was also a lost art of creating cuts as a tactic in that time line that do not work today due to glove technology, lubrications on the face, and paste like substances to stop cuts.

I don't think cuts would be Jeffries biggest problem if he were around today.

Why I think Frazier had more power.
Jeffries ,in 45 rounds could not stop Sharkey.
He took a lot of rounds to ko Lhvys Corbett and Fitz.
He could not drop Choynsky ,who did not have a very good chin.

Frazier knocked down BIG men and some with very good chins like Ali.
I dont think Corbett or Fitz would go too long with Frazier.
Neither do I think Sharkey would go 45 rds in two fights without being stopped by Joe.
As I said not much in it ,but a clear edge to Frazier ,imo.
Blaming the gloves for Jeffries facial damage in fights is only partly explanatory.
Sharkey,Fitz ,Corbett,Ruhlin .all wore the same gloves and NEVER marked up like Jeffries.
Plus the gloves being smaller should have given Jeffries an added punching power advantage over Frazier.

You should hang yr hed in shame for making that comparison.

They were both ultra durable and fought out of a crouch but that is where the similarity ends.
