Both were taking on a challenger no one wanted to face due to there unique style and Mosley couldent deal with it and Wrights size advantage. Cotto is gonna be boxing someone with a massive size advantage and a more offensive style with a great typical Ghanian guard. Cotto is gonna have to move and stick like he did against Margo. If he hasen't learned to go to the body and clinch Clottey will overpower him
Yeah I dont think its all that similar...Josh is to slow and his style wont be effective against Cotto. He doesnt throw enough to trouble Miguel. Cotto will win...you can bank on it.
This is going to be a very tough fight for Cotto. When you think about it, it makes no sense for Cotto to be fighting Clottey. Cotto has everything to lose and not a lot to gain with this fight. It's almost like Arum is trying to put another "L" on Cotto's resume.
Clottey is not slow.....Mother****er can launch that left hook from out his ass. Then again, so can Cotto...
Who would you have rather seen Cotto fight against? I hope you mention someone worth mentioning because you were criticizing Cotto for fighting Gomez and Jennings
This is a great fight that I'm really looking foward to. I'm just surprised it's happening. I think Clottey will present Cotto more problems than Mosley did. However, Cotto is not getting paid as much as he did in that fight and won't get the same recognition as he did in that fight should he beat Clottey considering that Cotto is the overwhelming favorite. From a purely competitive standpoint, this is a great fight. However, Cotto does not stand to gain a whole lot with this fight considering that risk that he's taking.
Cotto fights who they tell him to fight, so he didn't even pick out his opponent. He's simply following orders.
Good stuff...I agree, what other opponent (besides Clottey) would have made more sense for Cotto to fight? Mosley? Do you think Mosley should have manned up and agreed to rematch Cotto in MSG? Or vice-versa? Cotto vs. Mosley in Cali?
Cotto does need to beat somebody with a pulse though. Clottey doesn't hit like a mule, has a name and will get Cotto back in the mix should he win. I think this is a good fight to see where Cotto is at since the Margarito beating.
Mosley has already fought Cotto at MSG and he is considered the top fighter at 147 and theire first fight was close. He doesn't need to give in to the location. At the same time, I understand Top Rank wanting Cotto to fight at MSG in June.
That's the thing, Clottey doesn't have much of name. He doesn't have a name, a belt, or even any marquee wins. At least with Mosley/Wright, Mosley had the chance to become the undisputed champ at 154.
Yea, I hinted from my previous post about Cotto vs. Mosley wherever Mosley wanted but then like you said, MSG in June = PR Day Parade...I'm still trying to find out someone Cotto could've fought instead of Clottey and can only think of two = Cintron or Williams. However, Clottey vs. Cotto is more intriguing for some reason and is the fight I want to see the most...
He doesn't have a name as far as fans and financials go but he is at least recognized by other fighters and promoters as a man with a pulse. Who else would you have liked to see Cotto fight to get back in the mix with Pac, Shane and Mayweather?
