Willie Limmond claims he is a world champion, wants to defend WBU in football stadium

I dont need to hang around your gym like some sort of pleb to find out what I know already, that you & your fighters put in a lot of hard work. Limonds a great guy, Burns is a great guy, & if I met you personally I have no doubt you would be a great guy too.
Its just that you kept on grinding my gears by insulting me cos I have a problem with the WBU title, you made it personal. & so I just gave a bit back so you know how it feels when someone sticks the boot in. I been posting here for years mate, & it hurts when a trainer comes on & mocks me like you did. So i just thought I would throw some **** bck at you so you would feel how I felt when you pounded my boxing knowledge, I didnt mean it of course, Im just a seasoned wind up merchant

Forums do funy things to people, its like a free for all in here sometimes! You know I love ya really Billy Nelson, but when you take on me in here I got a reputation to keep, I just cant let guys come on telling me I know jack ****, no matter who they are!
But **** it, I dont wanna take this argument any further. It kills me arguing with my own, & this whole thing has snowballed out of control. So Im leaving this debate alone from now on, its went way too far. I dont like the WBU, never will. However, I hate arguing with fellow scots even more than I hate the WBU title, & the saddest thing here is, nobody has been picked on more than Willie Limond for winning that belt in all the years I have read forums, & its been a long time!
I was disappointed in Willie, but as I always say, its only cos the guy is capable of much much more. Hes wasting his talent fannying around with that belt, hes better than the Lawrence Murphys & Anthony Farnells of this world.
But its getting me down now, as this argument has probably cost me my forum friendship with Limond, your good self & all Limonds friends & relatives who post & read the forums.
ESB is crazy & I love it, but its a roller-coaster ride in here, every comment you make in here can make or break friendships etc, its tough being honest, & I sometimes wonder if I should bite my tongue more in here, but I always feel I owe it to myself to be as honest & open as possible. Its not the best policy though, as this argument has shown, as its probably cost me more as a poster than any other argument I have ever had here, & theres been many

The more popular this forum becomes, the harder it is to be honest without putting someones nose out of joint somewhere, & trying to 'keep it real' here nowadays without hurting peoples feelings is like juggling, whilst someone is always throwing one more ball into the mix... People always wonder why I go on about leaving, but its cos the forum has evolved into into a beast of a place where anyone thats anyone in british boxing reads this place, & its hard work posting in the knowledge that somebody somewhere in british boxing is reading & hurting if you say what they perceive as the "wrong thing"
Man, somebody even said to me a while back that John Murray wanted to knock me out or words to that effect after I slaughtered him, dont know if it was true or not, but you see what Im getting at here.

Man, that was a heartfelt rant if ever there was one, I need to crash another can of beer, just to wind down!

 

Listen guys we could go on forever and a bloody day about this, they way i see it is Limmond is a c/d level fighter world class wise. He should just try and earn a few quid fighting for british/commonwealth title working way up to a European belt and then a proper belt being the WBC or Ring belts. He wont make european mind, plus im sick of people going on at rob palmer and tommy v, they both make good points and get to much flack for saying bold things. Limond would be anhilated by murray and thaxton let alone your world title contenders like yuri romanov and your real world titlists being valero and marquez. The fact he calls himself a titlist when valero and and marquez rule the division makes me laugh, he couldnt lace there gloves. Rip chunks out of what i say fella's but its fact!!!

Achillies, i hear ya, regarding slating the WBU or fighters in general etc, am not interested, my posts will show this.

Whaa you said about going to the press conferences, yeah thats a damn good point. If i was getting no slack from the Boards etc, i would be, well i like to THINK i would.

Not sure what your point is, other than you don't like Limond. Everybody knows that the WBU belt lacks credibility, especially compared to the other world belts.

But, don't knock the guy for wanting to fight in the football stadium of his favourite football team or for trying to make a living out of the boxing game. Boxing is a brutal and unforgiving sport and boxers have a short window of opportunity to make whatever money they can out of the sport, so anyone willing to put themselves on the line, by getting into the ring to earn a living deserves whatever rewards come their way.

Farnell did ****in good man. He was just as high a notch as Limond. Nah he wasnt, he was higher. Well put it this way he was on my Friday Fight Night more than Limond was but i guess thats down to having Warren.

At the time the WBU'S were like WBO'S for Warren to plug.

Anyways, i aint tryna argue with ya , its maybe just cause i loved watching Farnell fight.

Didnt he have to retire, eye problems ?

I know you aint tryin to argue with me, cos theres no argument. Willie Limond is better than the Farnells & Murphys of this world.

A quick check on Boxrec is all it takes, limond has the bigger scalps. & I include Khan as a Limond 'scalp' cos every neutral knows that Limond was the victim of an infamous 'long count' & should have been the victor against Khan. sad thing was though, Willie punched himself out & ran out of gas cos of that long count, & thats how he eventually lost. Cruel doesnt even start to describe it,
Compare that to Anthony Farnell, who went insane when he won the WBU title, & infamously came out to Queens 'we are the champions' against Takaloo, & Takaloo done him inside a round. Exposed doesnt even start to describe THAT belt, & the fighters who hold it.
Looking back, Farnells best win was against Lawrence Murphy, a one fight wonder & former WBU champ himself.
Limond has a solid record with some decent names on it, & has only lost to Khan & Alex Arthur, & has some handy wins over good domestic/euro level opposition.

I say again, Limond is better than the Farnells & Murphys of this world.

& its THAT Farnell fight where he had the WBU title & came out thinking he was an ATG aginst Tak with Queen blasting in the background that makes me despise that title so much, not to mention Hattons many cringeworthy WBU defences against Mighty midgets etc.

However, I said Im stepping back from the debate & thats my lot on it.

 

Nah, good post, i had a looksy on the rec's as well. I will agree,as i says maybe it was just seeing him on the telly all the time and i did like his style that puts him "higher" and is "blinding" me.

i havn't looked a previous WBU fights rob;the bottom line is willie has been overlooked for a british or commonwealth title shot so many times WHY? unfortunatley he never had any other options,i honestly beleive he would beat john murry and jon thaxton time will tell.

 

This is getting silly now, people telling Limond to take out full page ads on boxing news calling out anyone who will listen etc. Thats why Im leaving the thread, cos its getting getting out of hand, & personal agendas are starting to sneak in.
What next, limond should turn up at press conferences with a sombrero on trash talking like Michael Gomez? ****in hell.

Its actually opinion... but never mind. Limmond is a good fighter, the WBU belt merely provides him with an oppertunity to make a few quid doing 12 rounders against international opposition.

I don't think Limmond has been avoided because fighters are scared of him, I think he is avoided because he is seen as a high risk, low reward fighter.

Over the years i've seen fights with Thaxton, Steve Murray and other decent fighters be made only to fall through.

The belt may give fighters more of an insentive to fight him. Its hardly as big a deal as Rob has made out on here... I started ignoring titles year ago. Its the results that make a fighter world class not the titles.

Limmond is a good boxer and a gentleman. He conducts himself in a great manner and for you to say he would fail at European level is ******ed bearing in mind the current European champion is one of the least talented fighters i've seen suceed at the level for many years.
