What's your point? He did say that he doesn't need a tune up fight yet he is asking the smaller (yes I said it) Marquez to fight him above 140. If he really wanted to fight Marquez at full strength then he should fight him at 135 or 140. The fight will probably at 145. If not it will be at 147. Pacquiao and Marquez are 2 different boxers. Pacquiao has proven himself at higher weight classes destroying the taller DLH and annihilating the bigger Hatton. And if you hadn't notice Pacquiao's body is well toned.

You might say that Manny fought Oscar at 147 therefore he should fight Floyd/Mosley/Cotto at 147 as well. Oscar was 154pounder and it was his idea to fight at 147. Manny stated before the fight that he has no interest in fighting at 147. Manny started at 106 asking him to fight at 147 is laughable.

Don't say that Floyd started at 106 like Manny because that was when he was in the amatuer league. I believe that Floyd cannot probably make 135 but I'm very sure that he can make it 140. He maybe a bit taller than Manny but his body frame is about the same size as Manny.

On Manny's case I think he should fight Mosely at 147 or at 145 catchweight.

No. I understand Manny want Floyd at 140/143 because he can make that weight. Mosley and Cotto would kill themselves to make anything much more than 145 and Roach/Pac know this and Roach himself even admitted as saying that it's my interest to give my fighter every advantage, and by fighting Mosley or Cotto at 143 is an advantage.

Asking him to fight at 147 is not laughable when you look at what he and Roach are trying to do.

I see it like this, even though Pac and JMM may be similar in size and both too small for Floyd, we rather see Pac fight Floyd as he will be the better challenge due to styles. But IMO, neither of them will actually beat Floyd due to size.

After JMM, if Floyd takes on either Cotto (if he beats Clottey) or Mosley, then my thoughts on Floyd would dramatically change. How can he claim to be the P4P when his opponent level have been decreasing since he beat Castillo. Bruseles? Zab? Mitchell? Gatti? Baldomir? Oscar? Hatton? Cmon man. To be the best you have to beat the best. The fighters listed are good fighters but nowhere near good enough to be in the same ring as Floyd. Oscar only is worthy, but Mosley beat him in his prime, so what did Floyd prove winning by SD?

The only explanation for these choices are a combination of hand-picked opponents and fights which generate the most money, and these two factors do not help establish your legacy and this is Floyds downfall.

Floyd doesn't lack heart he simply has the skill to avoid being hit. Pac should be so lucky.

Floyd, an unrelenting douche bag, could use a personality transplant. He had heart when he needed it, fighting with hurting hands. He does now pick opponents very carefully , but it has to do more with his sense of self entitlement more than being afraid of anyone. Floyd is definately a legend in his own mind.

I don't know what you have been watching but if one thing Mayweather did is make a career moving up in weight FIVE times and fight MANY different bigger opponents.

You make it sound like Marquez seems to be forced to move up for this fight. He chose to do so and called Mayweather out admitting that he wants to follow Pacquiao for a third fight so this is the best way to secure it. No one is forcing Marquez to move up just like no one forced Mayweather to move up five weight divisons fighting many different bigger opponents.

 

Does anyone else find all this Pac Fan hatred of PBF really disrespectful of JMM? I think JMM has the tools to trouble PBF but probably not beat him because Floyd is the best in the world (to me at least) by a long way. If I was Floyd however I would fight Cotto before retiring but like PBF, I'd take that fight after JMM and Pac (if this is the way he goes). If Floyd comes out and dominates the guy, you will say he beat a small guy and that he is no Pac, despite the fact that a lot of people dispute the fights beat JMM and Pac...whether true or not it was a close fight that with different judges could have gone either way (see Hopkins - Calzaghe). Also the post at the top of this page (2), "Floyd could be great someday too" shows your complete bias, what a joke, like PBF or not he is most deffo the closest person of this generation to an ATG (Manny is right there behind him but based purely on the fact he fought Oscar and Hatton closer to there peaks I pick Floyd ahead of him). I can't wait for the JMM and Pac fights to be over with, I really can't, maybe then some people will recognise the true sporting greats, whether it be JMM, Pac, PBF or any combination of the 3.
