Better record how? Hearns beat Cueves and Benitez for his first two titles. You cannot beat many guys better than that. Then he beat Hill for his lightheavyweight title. So he beat 3 HOF fighters for 3 titles, and still won 6 titles in 5 divisions.
No one will ever see the truth. Pacman is good but not in Hearns class yet. People always rush to put someone as one of the greatest ever. I am not sure why. Maybe people want to feel they are watching history happen, but you cannot force greatness.
pac win his first three titles as an underdog...he beat sasakul in thailand. beat legwaba on 2 weeks notice in his first US fight and move up in weight to beat #3 and 4-1 favorite in barrera... no other fly/bantam champ had success past 126...
no other welt. was successful at lightheavyweight and cruiserweight in modern times as Hearns. You can bring up Langford and Walker but in reality that is a joke. Langford someone else said on here never won a title. That shows how thin that information is. Pac also has not fought the best guys yet at higher weights. If he beats Shane and Floyd yeah that will be very impressive.
what makes it a joke? langford and walker beat top notched heavies... langford was not given opportunity to fight for the title due to race...
i vote pacman but i truly believe hearns is a great fighter 45 i rate pacman 43 in my all time list so close...since pacman isn't finish yet...
guillermo jones has his share of success from welter to higher weights...he is rated in those divisions but no flyweight was ever rated in the 130/135 division...
Hearns fought in such an exciting time when there were some great fighters fighting. Even the mediocre guys were good, and Hearns fought welterweight to cruiserweight from 1977 to 2006. I think he is going to still fight soon, which is a mistake of coarse.
It's too early to make this comparison I mean Hearns started at welterweight and knocked cruiserweights out with one punch when he was way past his prime. Pac is one of my fav fighters right now but a lot of people seem to forget the two close bouts with Marquez that could have gone either way. Hearns was knocked out 4 times but only by world champs and 3 of them are famous. The guys who stopped Pac are unkown and didn't accomplish anything. They both beat 6 world champs (ring title included) Pac fought in more divisions but they both went about 40lb north of their first weightclass. Hearns never got beat by a post prime fighter when he was in his physical prime. Pac did. Cuevas + Benitez + Duran + Hill > Morales + Barrera + De La Hoya + Hatton. I love both guys but I gotta rank Hearns higher.
Oscar : non title fight Julio : title defense Morales & Larios : Pac fought them for the international belt not the official world title.
