I'd call Forrest avoiding Martinez a duck as well. When someone's your mandatory, and it's the biggest money fight available, and you STILL don't fight them, it's a duck. See: Bowe-Lewis.

DLH didn't duck anyone though, and the only person there's a reasonable argument he should have fought but didn't is Wright.

The Sturm fight was in the way of a megafight with Hopkins back then, it was going to be difficult for them to postpone that for a Sturm rematch which is why I believe they robbed Sturm. Oscar came in looking semi pregnant that night, went 12 and still made it look competitive.

He didnt duck anyone. He made the bigger fights than those other names mentioned. He fought the best, Whitaker, Chavez, Tito, Vargas, Hopkins, Mosley, Mayweather, etc etc etc. Those names are bigger than anyone you can mention as ducked.

I wouldn't say Calzaghe ducked Ottke. Both of them were content to fight **** madatories at home during the time they were champs simultaneously. I've certainly never heard of Joe seriously calling out Ottke.

Being the star that Oscar was it was impossible for him to fight everyone that wanted to fight him. You think that he should have fought Winky instead of Vargas or hopkins? or Forrest instead of Trinidad or Mosley? Get real man those guys were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and Oscar would have had to fight once every 1 month to fight them all.

The only case you can make is that he should have given some guys rematches like Quartey or Whitikar but even that isn't really fair to say.

He avoided Sturm head to head.

Sure he had a tag-team effort Oscar and the judges against Sturm -but that of course doesn't really count.

Hoya fought Campas instead of Wright.

Wright called out Oscar for a while and he didn't so much as even look his way.

Regardless to how the fight would have played out - Oscar avoided Winky for bigger money fights.

    Woo.

So you dont think he should had given Tito a rematch? IMHO, that was the rematch WE all wanted to see. Who knows maybe he would had KOed Tito or the other way around but we never got to see it.

He clearly ducked Margarito. Before the Cotto-Margarito fight he said he would take on the winner of that, then when Margarito won he suddenly "didn't fight Mexicans."

Well that's why I say that you could make a case that he should have given guys rematches (I didn't mention Tito's name but yeah he qualifies). You can't place all the blame of that on Oscar though. I honestly think that Tito knows that he got lucky with the judges the first time around and intentionally priced himself out of the 2nd one.
