sorry for all these Basilio posts just been watching some of him. This fight was an excellant contest one of the greatest fights ever. This was an excellant tactical and physical fight. Robinson was the master boxer, he was tall, fast and powerful and regarded as the best fighter in the sport. He was coming off a short break to defend his Middleweigth title against Carmen Basilio the Welterweight champion of the world. Basilio was the classic fighter in this fighter-boxer match up. He was shorter, more aggresive and packed a hell of a left hook. He worked the body well and bobbed and weaved into range and gave many a boxer hell. As the fight started Robinson looked to keep the advancing Basilio at range with his jab which led to an intresting battle as Basilio tried to get into Robinsons range and Robinson wanted to keep him away. The fight followed this pattern of give and take rounds till about the 7th where the action started heating up and exchanges became more commen. The fight was dead level throughout. Going into the championship rounds Robinson was up by 2 rounds after winnning the 11th and 12th and looked to be on a roll. But Basilio battled back expertly and foguth back to make it level going into the last round. The drama was immense in these rounds. People there must have been asing themselves 'can Basilio still do it?' and 'Will Robinson keep his lead?'. This led to an exciting last round where i though (i only had a short highlight of this round) Basilio seemed to get the better of it and winning the fight on my card. heres my scorecard Basilio: 2,4,5,8,10,13,14,15 Robinson: 1,3,6,7,11,12 Basilio 8-7 what was your guys scores? thoughts on the fight?
Basilio moving up from ww to beat robinson at mw is still one of the most impressive feats in boxing history imo. it's been awhile since i watched the fight but i think i had basilio winning by a little wider margin than your 8-7. Also, in the second fight press row and most observers had basilio winning even with the closed eye. the dude was awesome!
havent saw the full second fight just HLs yeh him moving up and winning was amazing. My scorecard was close but i favour defence more tahn aggresion so that could be why but Basilio is criminally underrated defensivly. The fight though is amazing especially the drama of it in the last rounds thinking will basilio do it
Was pretty sure I score round 11 for Basilio. That was the round with Robinson on the ropes taking a pounded if I recall.
just watched it last nigth and cant remember Dempsey. i dont think it would have been though i think the 13th was like taht though
yeh it was a good edit. it wnet from black and white with sound to colour and no sound just like that. The 1st round you just notice it as its a tiny delay the last round is perfect only reason i noticed was the sound came back on
Next time, I give you that edit one, but its only the end of round 1, and round 15 is flipping all over the place, and you cant tell whats going on. The problem with the edit one, is well it cuts some parts out of the round. Wrong either way, but round 15 is real hard to watch. Even SS could not score round 15 and round 1 on his card, lol. He omitted the rounds lol.
This is flipping, Not from Robinson Basilio 1, because I not in the mood to dig up the unedit version of the fight. But when its flipping, you cant tell whats going on. At all. Now this is frozen, but it goes up, and up, from top to bottom. Good thing in Louis Walcott II, I only have this happen in round 3. This content is protected
