Or was it the other way around. :think If I remember correctly Mosley turned down something like 12 mill for the 3rd fight then went out and lost twice to Winky!
Priced himself out??? ODLH offers paydays, he didn't have to settle. In other words, Mosley, who isn't a big draw should have settled for the 10 mil, his biggest pay day by far, then to demand more than DLH. After all, it's DLH who sells PPVs.
the point being both tito and shane weren't willing to get paid less against a fighter they had already beat - or at least the cut wasn't 'fair enough' in their eyes. don't forget that by your same logic oscar passed up these fights - then went out and got beat by hopkins for less cash!
Yep for a while there Winky was undisputedly the man to beat and if DLH wanted the to be the new man at 154 he had to face wright but he didnt. Thats fine and all, DLH can fight whoever he wants. But those that are saying Winky didnt deserve the DLH fight or that DLH had better things to do are wrong.
Exactly, it was Mosley's biggest pay day of his career BY FAR, yet he did not want it. Pretty much tells me heknew he lost and was not so confident about the third fight. Trinidad was offered 30 million plus ppv in a three fight deal. Trinidad rejected the offer, and counter offered DLH 10 million flat. That's a joke, because it would have generated enough for both fighters to get atleast 20 million each, or more, but Trinidad said he would only fight Oscar if Oscar accepted the 10 mil and at 160 pounds.
He never ducked or avoided anyone to my knowledge. Just because he didn't fight a certain fighter in-and-around his weight class at any given time, doesn't mean that he 'ducked' or 'avoided' them. Oscar's mentality was always fearless. Given the Oscar fought the best fighters in the world for 15 years, I find it difficult to accept that he was 'ducking Vernon Forrest' .... Instead opting to cherry pick easy fights...like Bernard Hopkins. I wouldn't blame Oscar if he didn't want any part of Winky Wright though.
yes thats true. but wouldn't you have rather seen oscar fight either of these guys rather than fight hopkins - a fight he took only because he accepted terms the others didn't? look, i agree oscar can write his own fee and choose who he wants to fight, and 'avoided' (topic) is the wrong word in this context, but the point is these fights could have been made and these are fights people wanted to see.
Oscar offered Winky 6 million (Winky's biggest pay day) to a fight. Winky declined. Also when Winky was calling DLH out, DLH was KO Winky's daddy Vargas, rematching Mosley and fighting Hopkins.
fair dues. but if oscar had won against either of these guys first time round we wouldn't have had this problem for my mind.
Add to that the offer Winky turned down and there's actually more evidence that these guys priced themselves out not the other way around but DLH was so succesfull that he will always have a legion of detractors no matter what!
