I remember before his fight with Eddie Chambers, Teddy Atlas stated Peters team wanted teddy to train him but Peters did not want to go train in NY.....sounds like someone not too serious about their career.....I think he's lost the drive
Peter should get a trainer who breaks him and builts him up again piece by piece. A trainer that intimidates him and is not saying 'yes, Mr. Peter, how you wish, Mr. Peter.' And if Peter says 'gimme di candy bar, now!' it takes somebody with courage to send him to bed hungry and search his room for hidden snacks. If this is not happening, Peter's career is going nowhere.
If he gets back in shape he can win another belt but it really seems he was disinterested last time out. Anyway it's a good move to bring almost anyone,Pops Anderson and McKinley were jokes.
:roflatsch I remember laughing my ass off when Steward said on HBO that Peter was eating 5 candy bars and a bag of potato chips before bed every night. atsch
yea Peter should go to Atlas. I mean the talent is there just not the capability... He came to the United States from the slums of Africa... got introduced / seduced to the fatty / high in sodium disgusting American foods and that was pretty much the downfall of Sam Peter lol . He has the talent and power (his power is overrated yes, but his power is pretty good for a HW, even more so in today's standards) Theres no doubt in my mind I think Peter could win a title again, he just lacks the motivation to get into and stay in shape. You can tell he just wanted a paycheck in the Chambers fight lol. A 235 Peter would of beaten Chambers no doubt in my mind, and many top contenders imo as well such as Areola, McCall, Rogan, Meehan etc... He not on the Klitschko league tho.... but he still is(or can be I mean) pretty damn good.
A motivated Peter and say 235 is easily a top 5 heavyweight,,,he would always be one punch away from beating a haye or wlad,, but I don't ever see Peter beating vitali
He can get all the trainers in the world, won't make a difference. The guy just lacks motivation and only trains good enough for specific fights, guys like that just can't be taken seriously.
Can't say that man, he was VERY motivated in the first Wladimir fight and came in serious shape but fell short. Yeah he did give Wladimir hell but that's all he can do. A motivated Peter can definitely give anyone hell but in the end we focus on the REAL Peter, the real Peter trains hard for specific fights, that kind of mentality is journeyman quality.
It would be great to see him get in good shape, 235-240. We need more better fighters in the heavyweight division.
