The people who want boxing banned are the very people who would be the last people to get invovled in the sport

which is why it dont make sense - they are interfering with something that they have nothing to do with

    each to their own

Yes, not sure why it's being raised at this point.

Anyway, it's a completely pointless debate since it's not going to happen.

I guess we'll have the usual idiots on.

Many rugby fans/players seem to be in the anti-bridgade,probably because they can't stand it that their sport isn't the toughest

Yes because getting rid of boxing would help aid a much bigger problem (not that boxing is a problem anyway) which is the recession....they really need to focus on bigger problems and not things that could have detrimental effects to these bigger problems, which would happen if boxing, or any other sport, was banned.

    Idiots.

Theres always questions after a tragedy and the mid/ late 80s were very bad in that regard with McClellan, Watson, Stone, Watt etc.

Does anyone else remember the surgeon who operated on McClellan very skillfully defending boxing outside the hospital (and afterwards) in the face of some pretty intense pressure??

tanks for the tip about this..

listening now...**** debate though...richard beacon shouldnt be debating boxing.
boxing is the only sport you can legally kill someone ?...what if a formula one driver crashes into another driver and kills him?...what about ufc/mma ?...
it could be a good debate...but not with that lot.

these people consider boxing as fighting only...not as the skillful art that it can also be.

you cannot deny there are allot of bad things that come out of boxing, but there are far far more good things.

syaing you should ban boxing is like saying we should ban cars to stop car crashes

I wouldn't even get drawn into the pros and cons of boxing. I think its a simple as if people want to box they should be allowed to.

they are saying that all boxers go into the ring with a subconcious decision made to inflict brain damage.
it's too one-sided and niave this 'debate'.

Every sport you could legally kill someone:

Football: Snap someone's leg causing them to go into a shock, which results in their death.
Cricket: Hit the ball into the head of a player/spectator, causing death.
Golf: Let go of the club hitting your caddy in the head, causing death.
Rugby: Tackling someone by ploughing their head into the ground, causing death.
Tennis: Hit the ball into a spectator, which results on them choking on a strawberry, causing death.
Darts: Throw a dart into someone's heart, causing death.
Basketball: slam-dunking the ball on someone who has an 'egg-shell skull', causing death.
Running: Tie an opponents shoe laces together, which results in them going face-first into the ground, causing death.
Chess: Take your time, resulting in your opponent dying from natural causes.

    Etc.
