I get a feeling that I'm watching Miguel Cotto whenever I watch Andre Ward, especially recently in the Miranda fight for some reason I can't quite put my finger on yet. Anyone else see similarities between them?

I wish Ward had a fraction of Cotto's natural power.

Are you COMPLIMENTING him or bashing him or...like when ya make a statement like this you dude you need to at least put some explanation behind it. It's hard to comment when you just say "I see some of Miguel Cotto style in Ward, anybody else?"

I know you said you can't put yer finger on it but what made you think of it in the first place?

    Don't see it either.

But on another note, does anyone remember the name of that black dude from I believe Texas who fought mad similar to Cotto. I think he had something around 3 or 4 fights. There was a Youtube video posted here some months back.

If you look hard enough you'll find similarities anywhere. But in all honesty...naa. I don't see it. I mean if you think that both Miranda and Cotto fought Margo and Miranda in the same fashion, then yea maybe but the styles are completely different. If you were to play both highlights back to back. You would only find that both are fighting off the back foot. But one does it much easier than the other.

Cotto's way more aggressive than Ward.

I haven't seen enough of Ward to give an accurate review but in the Miranda fight, I think he took control of the fight in a way that Cotto does. Miranda was supposed to the bigger puncher of the two but the way Ward took control, by the end of the fight he was bullying Miranda around the ring. Also , I noticed how he switches from orthodox to southpaw a lot like cotto does and maybe his haircut added a bit to it.

See this is better. Got some stuff to work off of here.

I think the stance switching is certainly Cotto-like...but then again Miguel wasn't the first fighter to switch styles before. I guess if you're looking for one, this would be it.

    I still think it's a reach though.

Ward took Miranda's shots really well. 168 is a better weight for him than 160.
