2 of the most gifted boxers of all time, 2 p4p no1s in their prime.

For me, its Whitaker, he was more versatile & a better pure boxer, who do you reckon takes this one ? :think

better fighter means we only have to look on pure ability and not accomplishment..

in that case, i would still say that sweet pea in not in the same level as jones...jones was not even top 10 h2h at LHW

Jones victories over Hopkins and Toney are better then any victory on Pea's resume. Far better then Azumah Nelson and JCC.

However Pea's overall resume is probably a little stronger in terms of consistent comp.

In terms of who was the better fighter this is tough. Both were untouchable in their prime. Im gonna go with Roy Jones slightly because I believe he had the most god given ability of any boxer in history.

a green Hopkins and a weight drained Toney are not better than Nelson and Chavez......

sweet pea is a level a head of Jones....

Um. Bull****? You're telling me a young, pre-prime, unaccomplished Hopkins is a better fighter than the P4P #1 Chavez? I don't think so, nor was Toney at the time. Nelson coming up in weight is the only reason those wins would rate higher, even though he wasn't at a size disdadvantage against Pea.

Chavez was the same age, with a TON more fights behind him at the time he fought Pea as Pea was when he was losing to ODLH. Neither Hopkins nor Toney is better than a prime JCC, but JCC wasn't prime. Absolutely humiliating Toney the way he did is probably just as good a victory as Pea's victory over JCC.

Same answer as in every single thread like this, of which there are many: Natural talent: RJJ Accomplishments: Pea

How do you know Hopkins was pre-prime? He went on to have a KO streak a mile long. Plus Roys hand was hurt in the fight. And its not like Roy was exactly prime either. As for Toney, he quite clearly established himself as a power in the sport. Had defended his title what 10 times already?

As for Chavez, he wasnt as good a fighter as either Jones or Toney, nor was he in his prime weight class. Same thing applies to Azumah nelson.

RJ was better on offense, Pea on defense. Tough call.
