I would not count out Dimentriko either as he is training for a fight with Chambers.

So as possible opponents we have:

    Valuev
    Chagaev
    Chambers
    Brewster
    Dimentriko

all of them were or are currently training for fights.

Its now or never for Nicolai. There is NO reason to not take this fight other than being scared. In the past he expressed interest in breaking Marciano's unbeaten streak, well here's your real chance to get in the record books legitimately.

    CHEF,

please tell me Wlad will fight on the 20th he does not need to be inactive any longer.

That joke Haye has already held up the division for 6 months with his BS.

This sucks, but it's not surprising, given the state of the heavyweight division.

Possible replacements people have been calling for:

    Valuev: No way.
K2 Promotions' Bernd Boente has been saying since 2007 that Sauerland has never accepted to start serious negotiations for a Valuev-Wladimir fight so what makes you think that all of a sudden he's gonna have a change of mind?
Plus, Sauerland himself said that when Chagaev pulled out a week ago they never seriously considered saving the card by putting in Brewster or Meehan because Nicolay had been preparing for a southpaw. Wlad ain't no southpaw and he's 6'6" compared to Chagaev 6'0" 1/2 at most.
Too much of an effort to think before writing?

    Chagaev:
Oh yeah, of course. This guy has been pulling out of fights for the last couple of years, has got hepatitis and you think he'll be cleared to fight in Germany? He's promoted by Kohl who wants a piece of any opponent Chagaev fights and demands options any given time.
An easy deal to make in less than two weeks, uh?.

    Chambers:
HBO will most likely back it up, it's up to Chambers' camp to decide whether or not the gamble is worth taking.

    Povetkin, Dimitrenko
Their promoters will never ever accept it.

    Arreola:
This would be the most likely replacement so far. HBO will love it.
The problem is, Steve Kim said Dan Goossen is already in advanced negotations with Vitali Klitschko's people for a fight next fall. So don't count on it.

wlad cannot pick a shitty opponent for this fight, even if he has to take a bit less money than he was expecting. 65,000 people are going to be there and HBO covering it means it has to be a meaningful fight.

    valuev

    chagaev

    maybe dimitrenko

aside from that due to the fact vitali and wlad cant fight each other these are the only fights that mean anything

hbo will be pushing chambers but please, we've already seen him get quite easily beaten by povetkin

This is so depressing. Valuev would be a suitable replacement - but he's been finished with training for a few weeks now so there's no way he could go back into training and taper off properly in time to fight Wlad. Maybe James Toney or Chris Arreola could step in?
