Yes of course it is, and how many moot points are in this forum?:D I was just wondering how this fight would pan out.

Agreed. Foreman's jab would bust Hipp up pretty well I believe. The fight would probably be similar to Foreman's fight with Pierre Coetzer. Hipp was tough, durable, and had pretty good punching power, but he was not the most skilled guy, and he didn't have the speed or the quickness to trouble George.

Foreman looked like crap in the Grimsley fight. He actually made Grimsley look like a formidable fighter. I don't know if George took him lightly or was just rusty from his long layoff, but he looked rather impotent that night.

Yeah and Jimmy Thunder made Grimsley look like a fly he flicked off his shoulder. What about the Foreman that faced Morrison?

Remember how George dispatched Adilson Rodriguez... Hipp would have gone the same way only more dramatically..............

If I remember Foreman upset Hipp's plans of fighting Michael Moorer by defeating Moorer. Had Michael retained his title in that fight I believe that it would have been the first time two left handers would have fought for a heavyweight title.

In fact i do honestly remember Lennox saying that after he beat Oliver McCall in london he had a mandatory set up in the US probably against Hipp......

Hipp at the time was very highly ranked............. He got his big day in the sun on the Tyson v Mcneely undercard for the WBA title against Bruce Seldon and did very well...

In fact McCall did derail Lewis that night and went on to defend against Holmes in Caesars Las Vegas... the undercard was Seldon v Tucker for the vaccant WBA.... Seldon stopped TNT and made his one defence against Joe as i said above...

Hipp was about as deserving of a title shot against Moorer was George was.

Don't under-rate Hipp's once potential upside. He started very late in a place (both geographically and culturally) where few boxers come from. He was the last mf'er you would ever want to meet on the wrong side of the alley.

I agree. There has been many round fighters with solid skills. Frans Botha, Brian Nielson (bronze medalist), and Tony Tubbs, Buster Mathis, to name a few. The only thing somewhat typical about fat heavyweights, is they didnt have a lot of power, which was pretty consistent with the fighters I named above.

I guess George Foreman, David Tua, and Butterbean would be exceptions, fat guys who could crack. But yeah, you would think that more heavier fighters would have power, but that is not always the case.
