i agree with bernstein. todays 4 arent even done stamping their names on history and already there is an argument for comparison. pac and jmm are still doing remarkable things and there are fighters out there who could lift them even higher. be happy you can watch it unfold live instead of watching tapes of the fight only, as most posters did with the 80s 4.

If JMM pulls it off against PBF and carries on to dominate, Al has a very good case. Pac-MAB-Morales-JMM would all then be, arguably, top 50 ATG's...although the fab 4 to me are all definitely top 50 ATG's.

Nothing wrong with Al`s comments, both era`s will/have already go down in history for as long as boxing lives.

IMO the 2 best fights in each series kicked it off....
Duran v Leonard kicked off the fab 4 & Morales v Barrera kicked off the mini-fab 4.

Both make my top 5 fights EVER as far as action + quality.

    :good

Na, I think Morales would win a close UD over JMM prime for prime.

    But we`ll never know. :good

Yes, Benitez was the better boxer but Benitez was robbed of being part of the fab 4 & Naz robbed HIMSELF of going down in history by mixing it up with the rest of the mini-fab 4.
Naz v Morales or Pacquiao is hardon material

No. The other guys were past their prime when Pac came on the scene, and even then Morales got a W and the losses of JMM are hotly disputed and could have gone either way. Not fair to the Mexican legends to put Pac ahead of them as if it's a settled case, it's not.

    I DO agree with Bernstein.

The 80's Fab 4 were obviously better fighters, but purely for the exciting fights they produced, there really isn't much between them.
