regardless of wether or not the ring magazine belt is on the line. The ring title has a little tiny bit more credibility than the other titles because they generally recognize the lineal champion as the ring champ, but that would not be the case in this scenario.

So :**** Ring title. Vitali vs Wlad is the only fight that could be even debated as crowning a lineal heavyweight champion, and that fight won't happen anyways

Chagaev beat Valouev, so that means a lot.

Wlad vs. Haye is even less meaningful if you see it that way....

we all know ur dislike for wlad but he's gonna be around after vitali so for him it's a step in becoming the undisputed champ. I agree though...til Vitali retires, Wlad can't claim to be undisputed champ. #1? yes

I don't dislike the man as much as I don't think he's as good as other people do. I've got absolutely nothing against him as a man.

For me, its still unbelievable that people rank him #1, but since thats the consensus then I respect it. Still #1 vs #3 does not crown a new lineal champion. Never has.

Haye vs Wlad is basically the former Cruiser champ vs the top rated Heavyweight. Its a fight thats blown out of proportion though because of the popularity of the fighters. I've got nothing against that. I like that the HW division is getting so much attention and i like when two fighters can fill a soccer stadium

no doubt, but thats got no bearing on the topic at hand, which is just a case of common sense.

I wanted the fight badly, but in terms of "legacy" I think it´s less meaningful. I can see the postings after such a fight "blown up cruiser....coming of an injury...got robbed...afraight of fighting real HWs..."....

i can sort of understand people putting vitali at #1 based on h2h matchups but i think more f good reasons exist for wlad at the top

if you go on consistancy over the last few years, then yea sure Wlad could be considered at the top since Vitali was injured for so long.

But if you're talking about who is the better fighter today, then Vitali is on another level. For me, rankings should be about ranking who are the better fighters today.

Vital is always willing to mix it up and beat an opponent into submission, no matter the cost. Wlad is far less pleasing in that sense, but is virtually unbeatable if you cannot get by that jab. I favor watching Vitali.
