Where's your source then, mate? Not once did Adam Booth say that Haye needed steroid injections in any statement today.

To the Berk that started this thread. YOU ARE A MORON. To question that Haye would use steroids is laughable. The man trains stupidly hard and has been in constant training for 6 months not to mention the fact (jealous as i am) He is genetically gifted. As long as nutrition and training are suffecient he will gain alot of muscle fast! Adam booth is also a renowned strength and conditioning coach. If he has to have a cortizone shot which i presume he will, these show up completly different on a steroid test.

Cortisone is a type of steroid that is produced naturally by a gland in your body called the adrenal gland. Cortisone is released from the adrenal gland when your body is under stress. Natural cortisone is released into the blood stream and is relatively short-acting.
Injectable cortisone is synthetically produced and has many different trade names (e.g. Celestone, Kenalog, etc.), but is a close derivative of your body's own product. The most significant differences are that synthetic cortisone is not injected into the blood stream, but into a particular area of inflammation. Also, the synthetic cortisone is designed to act more potently and for a longer period of time (days instead of minutes).

I'm bored, so I'll play. Do they do random drug tests during training? I'd have to think that Haye would know when to stop taking them to 'get clean' for the fight. Let's say they announced an unexpected test that he would have to take in a few days and needs an excuse to have the roids in his body when they do it? Still, it is hard to get around the injury, whatever it turns out to be, will still have to undergo independent examination. Not real easy to spasm on cue.....

Well roiding is hardly a foreign phenominon in boxing or cycling. I wouldn't be surprised if half the boxers out there are. When ther are forced to go up in weight at least.

    I think you are right.

I like both and I hope the fight goes ahead later.

According to this poster Haye's supposed injury is "only a sore back"

So there was no serious injury.
Pulling out of a world title fight absolutely REQUIRES a legitimate reason.
Is "waking up with a sore back" a legitimate reason to call off a fight of this calibre? Absolutely no.
If it is, then next thing you know world title fights will get called off because on of the guys was too tired from working too much in camp, or got a black eye from sparring, or woke up to a bad hair day.

Steroid injections are necessary when you need to recover quickly from a SERIOUS INJURY, which is not the case here, as TerryESB points out above. Why then does Haye's trainer say he needs one of them steroid shots? I think it's only obvious guys. To sweep something under the carpet - that's why.

I would not excluse this possibility. Haye looks like a typical steroid user.
