Does an undisputed champion deserve a title shot as soon as he moves up?

Vic Darchinyan will step up to Bantamweight in his next fight, right into a title fight for the IBF. Manny Pacquiao went straight to David Diaz in his 1st fight at Lightweight, then on to marquee names of De La Hoya & Hatton for his next step ups.

Before the Hopkins fight, would Pavlik have deserved a shot at a SMW title if he moved up? Many were calling for him to get an instant shot at JC before he secured the Hopkins bout.

Any undisputed champ you care to mention, what is your view on this?

Should they have to prove themselves in that weight division first, despite all their achievements in the weight class below it.

Should David Haye have to prove himself first before he gets to take on the Klitschkos for a HW title, if the answer is yes, then why?

No. Champion vs. Champion is NEVER a bad thing.

I think it's okay. HIStory has many instances of a champ moving up in weight getting opportunities to fight for titles right away.

Right. I think as long as he's not fighting a weakling of a champ it's okay. Personally I'd put them in an eliminator fight first.
