it helps chagaev was propering for someone even bigger then wlad klit, really the best that could be hoped for in the situation, this will actually be a tougher fight for wlad although much more boring then haye vs wlad and a bigger fight in germany although not around the world

He did win it easy, but in the tenth (i think) he had Skelton hurt on the ropes and gassed. He couldn't press. He waited and waited. And Skelton is not a puncher or a general, it wasn't like he could (should) have been worried about bait. But we'll see. If Chagaev turns up in top nick (and he was ready for a title fight) we might see something.

Interesting. So in a series of 5 you'd expect Chagaev to win around 2? What do you think the differences are between his winning and losing against Wlad?

This is horrible, especially after the excitement that Wlad vs Haye generated.

That's like looking forward to buying a Lexus and then ending up with a Totota.

    Exactly.

Had Chagaev been prepared for a normal sized opponent, I think he'd probably had passed on the Wlad fight.

Amazing stroke of good luck, is what it is.

Chagaev has a solid chin & a thick neck which means he can afford to press the action and maybe with a little bobbing & weaving he can get inside.

Contrary to popular, mostly British, opinion here Haye didn't have the luxury of a solid chin so that would be suicide for him to fight that way.

Also, Ruslan is a southpaw and he'll throw stuff that Wlad isn't used to and that's the best chance he has at getting through Klitschko's defense.

Yeah, you can't accuse him of being a chicken or anything.

One opponent drops out and he takes on another one who may be even more dangerous, and one who has a very different style that he is not training for.

Props to Chag too, willing to take on the best.

Works out well for Haye too - if he gets to fight Wlad afterwards he can be fighting for even more titles.

This is GREAT! for the HW division. I anticipate a technical and exciting fight. Lets face it, Haye would only last as long as Wlad would let him anyway.

I just wish to be part of this historic thread and say: A TRUE CHAMPION WILL BE CROWNED!

Who would of thought that the Valuev-Chagaev fight being cancelled would have been such a great day for boxing.

pauliemayboy you are making the erroneous assumption that Chageav is somehow the second coming of ibraminov. :patsch

nothing could be further from the truth.

Rus, I am very happy for your boy. I like Chag and all too, but I think Wladdy's got this one.

    :good

I still see Haye as a very exciting and uncertain fight for Wlad, but I think Chagaev is almost as big a threat. Not quite, but almost.
Haye has power from hell, but Chagaev is a better boxer who moves well and has shown he can deal with a big opponent like noone else can.
