Nothing else happened in that fight? No Lewis on ***** street? No Lewis outboxed by a one-eyed man? It was such a great performance by Lewis that he was booed out of the Staples Center. Because of the pressure after the fight he promised a rematch he never intended to honor.

It would be fair to say Lewis escaped that fight with a win. Lewis landed his money punch uppercut multiple times, in multiple rounds, & Vitali didn't stop coming forward. That being said the stoppage was fair & the punch that caused the damage was a legit punch.

 

Statements like that just show you're biased & not to be taken seriously............................

 

I'm not saying that the punch was not legit. But how many times have you seen a grazing right from the clinch cause so much damage to the eye? The cut was horrible and the fight should have been stopped even earlier. It was better than Byrd's "win" but not by much.

 

Thanks for pointing out the bleeding obvious. Holyfield was sitting front row when Douglas defeated tyson, it should have been holyfield in the ring, he deserved a shot at the champion, not douglas.

 

Neither win was anything more than losing by injury. Legit all the same but not exactly dominating & nothing to write home about.

Not any version of Tyson. The Tyson of the late 80's would of gave Holyfield fits. If it wasnt for Holyfield's excessive clinching and headbutts, I believe it would of been a much closer fight, and that was back in 96, well past Tyson's prime.

 

I stand by my statement. Tyson was a great fighter in his prime but Holyfield was like Mike's kryptonite.

Fair enough, so your saying Holyfield of 92-93 beats Tyson of 87-88? I dont know, other than heart, what does Holyfield have over Tyson at this point in their careers?

 

Just like the Holyfield that fought another hooker and had trouble in his prime against Bert Cooper, would of got sparked by Tyson.:deal

 

Holy saw flaws in Tyson's game that he exploited. He didn't fear Mike like everyone else & he had an extremely solid chin combined with a workrate, stamina & wicked combos. Yeah, I'd bet on Evander everytime. I'm not saying that Mike couldn't catch Holy with a wicked uppercut or left hook but I think Holy had him figured out early on.
