can anyone explain what berts motives for hating or nut hugging would be? the guy is one of the most knowledgable boxing expert in the world and 17yo want to dismiss him like their opinion is more relevant. so you differ in opinion, he has still forgotten more than youve ever known about boxing.

He knows a hell of a lot about boxing history, more than almost anyone really. That doesn't change the fact that his opinions on the sport and its fighters are pretty much ****.

As someone whose read the book which features his top 100 fighters, I can say that he has Lennox and Floyd Jr in the honorable mentions page.

Again this is just his opinion. He's a historian not the be all end all.

Bert Sugar has OPINIONS, and usually that are ****'n worthless. If you want a history lesson on boxing from him, that works, but not much else. IMO especially when comparing fighters.

It doesn't take a genius to realise that a lot of what he says nowdays is total rubbish. He has the credentials to get his statements aired in the world boxing media, but it doesn't mean they are correct or sensible.

Right. Although I think Bert is well entitled to his opinions (and is a pretty good guy), it's just what he THINKS. Just because he "knows his ****" doesn't mean he's above being wrong from time to time.

Whitaker is still above him, he is close to Hagler.
