The 7 inch reach advantage really stands out to me.
Chagaev did okay against Valuev and his 85" reach
but Wlad's jab is in an entirely different league.

Exactly, Wlad doesn't jab in slow-motion with his foot nailed in place all night. Chagaev is gonna have a hard time avoiding the jab and all that follows.

In theory, yes, in practise, no. Unless Klitschko changes his heart, Chagaev should not be bothered by the jab. Klitschko prefers a stationary target, and does not usually snap the jab when it moves. The question before us is whether Chagaev can still perform at his best. He has looked a bit flat in his past couple of fights. That won't work against Klitschko.

Why? Are you expecting Chagaev to knockout that bum in the first round?

I disagree. Chagaev will have major -- probably insurmountable -- problems with Vlad's jab. Just watch the film of Chagaev's fight against Valuev: even though this is Chagaev's best performance, he still takes many jabs throughout the fight. Vlad's jab is much faster, harder, and more effective than Valuev's, so clearly his jab is going to be a big factor here.

Based on his last two fights, Chagaev may not be as effective now as he was in 2007. That's not good against an opponent like Vlad.

I give Chagaev an outside chance of winning, because he's a good fighter. Still, though, I expect Vlad to win easily, probably in the same way he beat Ibragimov.

Vlad by one sided decision here.

My view about Chagaev's mobility -- which he displayed so effectively against Valuev -- is that will enable him to survive, but overcome, Klitschko's jab.

Again, look for this one to turn out like Klitschko-Ibragimov. Vlad will dominate but probably not kayo the durable and safe-boxing Chagaev.

Chagaev in most rankings, including the rings, is ranked directly behind the klitchkos and is ranked #3 for a reason...

wlad knows he has to chase him down and chagaev knows he has to swing to win so i really look for this to be a good fight

Good news is at least HBO has some freed up cash to spend on other bouts. Sure was looking forward to Klit/Haye...

Alot of people saying this fight isn't meaningful have their heads up David Hayes ass. David Haye is not the only worthwhile fighter in the heavyweight division.. and for all we know Chagaev could starch Haye in the first round. He is very accomplished at heavyweight.. fighting Monte Barrett does not make you top 10 material.

**** HBO..trying to demand Wlad fight certain guys. I give any fighter credit who stands up to the networks and wont allow them to dictate the fighters Career path.

What does HBO want from Wlad?..Haye is out 7 weeks minimum and Chagaev is a great replacement on a 2 week notice.

HEY!!! HBO!!!..get of your high horse and show the fight!
