RTE (German network) shows all the Klitschko's fights. As I said, they're like pop stars over there.

Germany has a good amount of $$$ and LOVES both fights and 'culture.' So, the Klits, with the boxing and the Ph.D.'s, are perfect for their tastes.

Wlad gets good numbers on HBO, that is why he always gets spots, i can't believe there pulling this stupid ****, it is funny, they promote the Ring Belt, an this fight is for it, an there not showing it.....An who ever thinks this fight is going to suck, hasn't watched chagaev fight, the guy will come at wlad all night, he will work the body, an he has got good power,,,this could be an upset, no way would hayes walk threw this guy,,,when wlad beats chagaev (i have faith), i will put this guy as his #1 victory, no joking, i think he is that good, over byrd, brewster, peters,,,,,This guy knows wlad inside an out, no doubt they sparred together, cause there both from universum,,,,,

I hope ESPN picks it up, cause i do not get showtime

Ok, back to the importance of the "60K" crowd for HBO.

You're a promoter or a network trying to sustain a sport that is losing viewership in a tough economic time. You've had some recent...disappointing...performances from the house fighters not named Manny Pac.

Now you have a huge 'home' crowd for a fight that could become something of a turf war match (though the crowd will undoubtedly being very pro-Wlad) between two HW beltholders, one of whom you've had on your network various times and you're trying to make a match with for another house fighter, Chris Arreola.

Having that huge, likely chanting/shouting crowd in a large venue is worth the price itself. It makes your sport look popular, expanding (to/in the Euro market), relevant, etc. Crowd size matters when you're trying to sell a product, as HBO is trying to do with boxing. People see that and think -- "hey, it's popular. I like that."

It's a marketing/promotional thing. There aren't so many fights in the history of boxing that were fought with crowds of 60,000+. If you can get that, you take it.

Chagaev is certainly one of the most talented heavyweights in the division. The problem is he has a young man's style and he is getting a bit old. I expect him to beat Klitschko if he can still perform the way he did against the great Felix Savon. Sadly, I fear that it ain't in him anymore.

But it wont have any impact on American viewers, they need to see some one with a personality like Hayes to actually become interested. All we see are just two germans who stand like statues, poking their jabs at each other.

It was all about forcing the fight with haye but wlad already sold 60,000 and this is for the ring belt in a unification fight so wlad called hbo's bluff and said **** off, showtime or espn will pick it up... I only hope wlad stays off HBO for now on..
