Hearing your point about Emile's p4p credentials...but do you really think they are relevant for a purely welterweight discussion?
but this aint a P4P list its of WWs so its of there achievements at Welterweight and Napoles is a better Welter than Griffith, if you have seen there fihgt Napoles wins pretty handily
I have seen there fight which Napoles however you need to consider when people fight otherwise it is like sying I should rate John H Stracey higher than Napoles beacuse he stopped Napoles whereas any sincere and honest appraisal tells us Napoles is a far more legendary fighter than Stracey could ever claim to be.
Actually I really do because Emile crossed the divisions during his career and took on all comers. He was a great Middleweight and Welterweight World. He actually beat the great Dick Tiger (my countryman) you know. One my key criteria is quality of opposition as well as the overcoming adversity such as coming back from defeats.
did you know Griffith had just come off a very close loss to Carlos Monzon where he only lost by 1 or 2 points also i know he wasnt in his prime but he was still a top fighter and got beat by Napoles. why do you think Griffith is better?
For which Emile should get a lot of credit for...Inside my top30 of alltime...he is truly a great fighter. But still..Im not sure how any fights he didnt have at welterweight should impact his ranking at the weight..I think he actually be a little higher on your list but my main point is I reckon Napoles deserves a shout...whether he should be over Emile or not is up to personal opinion..But I think any list without him is wrong, just my opinion.
I understand what you are saying but my problem is who does one leave out amongst these great fighters. Don Curry was another personal favorite of mine who I could not quite fit into the top 10. In fact I think I must be mad that Benitez is not in.
Maybe Mickey Walker is another one that has serious consideration for the top 10. No doubt he is many people's list.
Have to agree with the last bit of your post olug.At lightweight durans the best ever for me.Would've liked to see what mayweather could do with duran in a fantasy match up.Think he gets the mauling of his life
I really don't want to rate Mayweather, Mosley, Pacman and the current fighters until their time is done. PBF I think scores extremely highly in the Junior Lightweight division as arguably alongside the likes of Azumah Nelson the best ever. At Lightweight him and Duran well I don't want to comment as this will really take us off the point. The thing is Duran and PBF are really special types.
Griffith looked a weight drained shell against Napoles imo.I don't rate that as one of Jose's better Welter wins to be honest.
