How do you know what I 'fail to realise'. Whereas what you 'fail to realise' would probably fill all the blank paper in the Western World :good
I figure that'd be your area of expertise. Nothing less than Pernell ****-slap to the face would explain your blatant disdain for him. Either that or you're just a ******. Or both.
I stopped using this forum for like 8 months, how the **** am i supposed to look for old posts from last year?
Should we put Whitaker under the same spotlight as Floyd? People put Floyd under allot of scrutiny because he's around today and for every fighter he faces hes criticised for not facing another. Lets apply the same rules to Whitaker: No Terry Norris fight - why 'cherry pick' a 1 dimensional brawler like Vasquez over the numero uno 154lber No Unification matches with Quartey or Tito - Whitaker can't want to face a real welterweight right? Only natural 140lbers like McGirt and a featherweight like Chavez. Now Tito was protected by King just like Cotto is by Arrum and Mosley turned down a 2006 Mayweather showdown. But a Quartey fight could be made No Taylor fight - must have been avoiding him right? (I know they were friends....) Now I rate Whitaker as slightly better than Floyd, but he wasn't always taking on all comers
Since when was Hatton the easy option? Firstly FMJ was accused of ducking Hatton. Cotto nearly got stopped by Torres, Judah and Corley. Hatton had beaten Tyszu and destroyed Castillo, thats 2 P4P fighters, Cotto hadn't fought anyone on the P4P list. Hatton was the bigger money fight both have/had defensive frailties, but Hatton was faster, more intense and keeps the fight inside at close proximity. Cotto is more monopaced and easy to read, more Corrales like in style, Hatton is more Castillo like.
One Whitaker hugger was Sues2nd. He once said Mayweather wasn't better than Whitaker in any area. I think Mayweather had quicker hands. Infact, I'm not even hesitant with that one in the slightest. He certainly retained his handspeed better as he moved up in weight.
Again, Norris had been disqualified in his previous fight when Pernell fought Vasquez. Sweet Pea fought Trinidad when he was way past prime, possibly his only convincing loss but he still performed well. I have no idea what point you're trying to make there???? Chavez was NOT a featherweight. I'm not sure that he ever fought in that division, though he is a famous 130lber. He was far more suited to 135 and 140lbs, and I believe he had a record of 86-0(75) when Pea fought and beat him comprehensively. The clearest robbery of all time IMO. You can't argue that. Pea also accomodated Chavez's 145lb catchweight in that fight with his WBC Welterweight title still on the line. You argue that Pea faced Chavez, who was super experienced at 135 and 140lbs, yet you are saying this counteract an argument about Floyd Mayweather, who is fighting a guy that has fought at 135lbs only once. Chavez was P4P no.1 by the when Pea fought him, and as I say 86-0(75) or something to that degree, who had beaten fighters of all styles and had his famous win over Meldrick Taylor. Regardless of weight (and also because of it) he posed 20X more risk to Pea than Marquez does to Floyd. And I'm a MASSIVE Marquez fan. Pea wins pretty much every round IMO, even though Chavez is competitive throughout.
1. Norris was clearly the best at the weight regardless and the fight could have happened at any time 2. The point is he never unified with Quartey or Tito, it could be argued he only cashed in against Tito once he lost his belt 3. Super Featherweight then, Marquez is being called a featherweight now, but just like Chavez-Whitaker, Mayweather-Whitaker only started 1 division apart, both fights at catch weights. YES Whitaker schooled Chavez 4. Your showing some ignorance, Marquez fought at 135lb twice not once, and it was against 2 of the top 2 dogs in his division, stopping them both. 5. Now Chavez at 145 is a bigger challenge than Marquez at 143 but JMM is a decent opponent all the same and the difference in size isn't that great, Mayweather is a small WW who weighs 147-149 on fight night, Marquez is a biggish LW who weighs 140-143 on fight night. If the fight was 2009 Marquez against a LW version of Floyd, Marquez would still be a huge underdog. I'm playing devils advocate with the Whitaker criticisms I don't actually buy them, the same way I dont buy all the Floyd criticisms either
Sorry, of course I knew Marquez fought there twice, clearly an accident on my behalf. You think I live under a rock??? Furthermore, a few posts up you said Hatton was 'faster than Cotto and less easy to read'. Unbelievable statement in so many ways.
Hatton is faster than Cotto, and Cotto takes his time, is methodical and has a poor defense, this makes him easy to pick off, Hatton is operating at 100mph which makes him Do you think Cotto takes Tyszu in 2005, I'd put big money on the Zoo stopping him
