The way I look at it ishy is that if I was a fighter then I would be incredibly proud of everything I did in the ring. The heart both fighters displayed in that fight was extraordinary, same goes for Watson-Eubank 2 and Doherty-Murray (a truly amazing fight) for these brave men it was tragic and terrific in almost equal measure. I'd like to never forget these fights or fighters. :good

I can see what you mean, I felt apprehensive watching the fight the first time around, however I was curious about the fight and felt I made the right decision to watch it. I hope you watch it when you are ready to :good

Didn't mean to sound as though I was criticising you, like you say you didn't know until the next day but for King to say that at the mans bedside is dreadful.

I've watched Benn-McClellan mutliple times. Great fight, despite the tragic ending!!!

I'll think you'll find that most vids of the fight don't actually show McClellan collapsing in the corner if that's what don't like. Although I can see why you may not want to watch the fight at all considering what happened.

It wasn't Jim Watts finest hour as a commentator either.

What happened there? I've only seen the Showtime version and Pacheco was a disgrace, Watt can't have been as bad surely?

He kept saying that McClellan quit, that there was nothing wrong with his chin, just his heart. He kept it up for quite a while, even as they started getting worried about GM in the corner.

Its truely awful commentating in hindsight, but of course Watt didn't have that luxury..

I have to admit that I have never re-watched that fight, so I understand were you are coming from. But saying that.......what a fight!!!!!!!!!!!!..............I mean, what a fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fatal aftermath seems to take away from what was possibly, dare I say it, the greatest fight ever involving a British fighter. Benn was gone, absolutely ****ed, when he went through the ropes early doors. Somehow he dragged himself up and back into it, but even near the end you couldn't tell who was gonna win; each man was hitting the other with massive bombs, defences out the window.

I would say give it a watch Ishy, but one watch will do. Its a great fight, but sickeningly brutal.

Pacheco was the same, and he's meant to be a qualified doctor for Christs sake.

To be fair to the commentators, there was a lot of commotion going on and alot of people surrounding McClellan at the time not to mention Benn and his entourage celebrating. They would have had a hard time seeing exactly what was going on.

I think Carl Froch's fights with Pascal and Taylor will go down as classics over time.

Lewis-Briggs was an entertaining fight. Both guys throwing bombs from the start.

Arthur-Gomez is also a quality scrap.

Benn and G Man for me also. Tragic consequences etc but for drama and atmosphere (even watching on the telly) and for an utterley terrific fight, that one has been unbeaten since it occurred.

    Thompson Rothman as well.

Benn-McClelland was a war, the most brutal live fight that I have watched. But that was Nigel Benn for you, he loved a war. Great period for boxing fans.

although benn's now infamous fight was brutal,,it cemented my interest in the sport at the time,
perhaps because i was at an impressionable age?
perhaps because british boxing was at a great era?
i can't seem to watch it now,but can say that each boxer that enters the ring takes this great risk every time, which is part of the reason that makes boxing stand out from other sports.
    i find u.f.c (sorry for swearing),more brutal,for some reasons.but i can't enjoy the sport.
carl froch is producing some exciting fights at the moment, and i hope he has earnt more respect as a result.
