ESPN will step in and asset strip the bankrupt sentanta. No point in propping the up with a rescue merger when they can pick up setantas content on the cheap later.

Yep, it sounded like a tough fight for McGuigan listening to it on the wireless.

Gaz - it might be that different parts of the UK got the McGuigan-La Porte fight, I can't remember, but in NI our BBC coverage would vary with the like of England, Scotland and Wales??

Maybe thats what happened. It was a tough fight for Barry but he was always edging without actually dominating. He did ship one hell of a right hand in the 9th round but hung on for a few seconds and carried on to get the win.

This will suck so bad if Setanta go, anyone hoping that Sky will pick up more boxing when they go ... well, good luck with that.

There has been plenty of fights (e.g. Juan Diaz vs JMM) that Setanta have jumped in late and picked up. That fight was always there for the taking, if Sky had wanted it, they could have got it ... but they didn't.

Sky aren't interested in international boxing, only stuff with a Brit involved, preferably a Frank Warren brit too.

Not recently no, not at all.

They've left boxing out in the cold.

Yes; I am pretty sure it was; the Pedroza fight was also live, as his two defences pre Cruz; inded both were live prime time BBC specials.

But talking of radio, I always remember tuning in to Radio 2 M/W to listen to live coverage of Bruno/Coetzee. All I remember is hearing is "and he is down!" Then static.... it seemed like a good two minutes before I realized Bruno had won!

I remember gettting up early on a "school night" to listen to Hagler-Hearns on the radio. I thought the commentator had to be exagerating, no fight could be that violent!!

Yep, I get the same buzz from streams. You're present (in a weird way) at a little piece of boxing history....
