Tyson would beat Wladimir Klitschko by KO but Vitali would be a tougher fight because of his height and awkwardness. Tyson is not going to KO Vitali, it's go to the cards with Tyson winning a UD. Kind of hard to imagine a 5'11 man winning a decision over a 6'8 man but it can happen

 

I think this thread is more of a critique on today's Heavyweights than an upliftment of Tyson's stature. If so, then I understand the point, though I do see some up and commers who do show promise.

 

Much as I hate to, I agree. Todays athletes are just too big and too powerful.

 

i think you can make a case for prime lewis beating prime tyson, but vitali? no way....i think tyson's punching power might be the strongest ever at hw, and he could MAYBE be the guy to put down vitali.....and i think he does it.

 

Tyson was great. His prime was so short and he was so young a phenom. The problem with trying to judge Tyson is that during his "prime" he never fought anyone of note. There wasn't anyone around.

His best wins are Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks. When you watch his old early fights you realize how much smaller the heavies were then he was fighting 190 lb guys some 210-215. These guys would be at cruiser nowadays.

My opinion is no doubt Tyson would be walking thru the Ruiz's and the other top 3-20 HW's.

With Wlad and Vitali ... I'd only say this. That if it was a pre Buster Tyson that was in Hayes position now ... not only would a delay beyond the 20th to make it happen be a formality, but the sports fans around the world would be totally engaged with boxing.

What-ever the outcomes ... such fights would be great to watch. I like Haye being in the mix but he doesn't bring to the table anywhere as much as someone like a Tyson would have.

Tyson in 85 was 19, he didn't have the neccessary experience to clean out today's division.

From 86-88 though, I'd expect him to beat everyone with about the same ease as he did back then. Vitali would be his toughest fight as Wlad simply isn't durable enough to last. Tyson-Vitali has always been interesting to me, outboxing a super heavyweight is no easy feat. I think that his punching ability would make an impact on Vitali though, and Klitschko would fight to survive more and more as the fight went on. Tyson UD 9-4 or maybe 8-4.

The Tyson that fought Douglas would of lost to Vitali. The Tyson that fought Ruddock was better but would of been hard pressed to clean out this division.
