There different sports, both involve fighting. I'm not sure many MMA fighters even waned to be a boxer in the first place.
No top level boxers who were in there prime have competed in MMA as far as I know. Ray mercer was and old man and washed up as a boxer, thats why he was in MMA. maybe Floyd gets taken down and submitted, maybe he's too quick to be taken down and KO's his opponent within in minute with a punch he never saw coming. There isn't exactly a long list of boxers who have transitioned to mma. Think about it why would any boxer want to go to mma, it's only the boxers who can't make it in boxing and realize mma is the easier way to go. This debate is getting old. Lets be serious comparing the two sports is like comparing a greyhound to a mutt. Boxing always has and always will be a classier sport with classier fans. MMA is simply a fad and will never replace boxing so they should quite trying to compete with it and realize their never going to have the same market as boxing, mma fighters will never see a elite boxers payday. Obviously no mma fighter can make it in boxing or else they'd go into boxing and get a big payday, it's funny Oscar makes more on one fight than the UFC's payroll for a year.
